  • Beethoven's 11th !

  • Thanks For This Videos Men.

  • 01:50

  • yes, it is too fast. my most used recording is Giulini with the Chicago symphony orchestra, made in 1976

and i deeply admire Celibidache for his Bruckner

  • If i go to Vienna again, i will definitely choose to listen to Bruckner's symphoney no.9 in this wonderful concert hall :-)

  • ΕΠΙΚΟ

  • Leave it to Herb & Co. KG. to get all of these sacred sounds just right!

  • What a beautiful hall. One day I'll hear a concert there.

  • Much to fast!

  • 5:13 is one of the most mysteriously beautiful passages in Bruckner's whole repertoire.

  • No pgk that's the way it is read dude.Bruckner is tough on a reader.see Mahler 3 and you'll get it.Just thinking.

  • The orchestra is not together at the big chord at 3:54 (timpani comes in early). Maybe if Karajan would make a bit more eye contact with the players, they would be more together.

  • @pgk7285

Lack of rehearsal. Karajan's conducting style is somewhat vague and spiritual, so he and orchestra require more rehearsal to develop consensus. Maybe that was why he worked with only 17 orchestras in his lifetime. He spent more than 30 years training BPO into what he wanted to hear, and now we can see Rattle already ruined it. (Just kidding. You know I love you, Sir Rattle)

  • @yenhoho

Was't there someone in between Karajan and Rattle, with very specific ideas about orchestra sound on his own? Babbado, or Abblado, or something?

  • @herodot2

    It's Claudio Abbado.

People are weird. When Abbado was in charge of BPO, people missed Karajan. Now Rattle is in charge of BPO, people missed Abbado (though he is still alive).

I think when new music director appointed couple years later, people will miss Rattle.

(So don't take my comment too seriously, Sir Rattle. It's human psychology)

  • wow thats just fantastic ! i really love it!

  • Unbelievable, Karajan is wonderful with Bruckner, thank you very much...

  • @jorgeuribeclar Karajan is best in Bruckner ( not Beethoven, Brahms or Mozart) also good in Richard Strauss.

  • Neben den Aufführungen von Wand für mich die beste "Interpretation" von Bruckners neunter.

  • .....eine einzigartige Welt der fantastischen Klänge....

  • Someone once said of Bruckner, "His symphonies are beautiful cathedrals of sound".

  • Mozart, Schubert, Mahler, Brucnker, Strauss, Karajan !!!

  • Absolutely one of the best classical works ever. At the same level as Beethovens 3rd 1.movement or Mozarts 21 piano concerto 1st movement.
