1. regular metal (lyrical themes, melodic influencs)

2. Death Metal (alternate tunings, dissonant chords, chromatics, overall "chugginess"

3. Hardcore/Post-hardcore vocal styles, breakdowns, band image)

now, listen other metalcore bands, sound similar right? And there's your answer.

I was unaware that there was actual real-life basis for this song. I just thought it was expression of extreme depression/suicidal feelings and the aftermath-pain caused in family and friends. I didn't once say that song glorified suicide. However, the song IS written in the first person so yes, it is presented as Matt being suicidal. So there!
