  • My mother used to play this at her organ recitals. I just told her recently to work it up again. She hasn't done it since about 1974 !!! Great piece of music, one of my favorites !!! Good job.

  • Great playing, too bad about the stretched out picture. (uploaded as 16x9 when should be flagged as 4x3)

  • Incorrect. It's the Naiades from the 4th suite of the Piece du Fantasie, not the Impromptu from the third.

  • Drags a little.

    Still wonderful.

Alexander Schreiner, on the Mormon Tabernacle organ, is the best I ever heard.

Also his performance of Carillon de Westminster is best ever despite his using the organ tubular chime stop.

  • @robertgift yes that's a great record; the first one I ever played on the radio.

  • perfect, just perfect!!!

  • wonderfull! 5*

  • Beautiful her pedal pump.

    It is good organ shoes!

  • love this piece!

  • definitely my favorite organ piece. There is so much interesting organ music written, crazy harmonies and concepts. It's a shame all the infamous is on piano when the organ is capable of such diverse sounds. She plays it great but the video volume is way too low for my laptop speakers. Bummer.

  • I totally agree, the organ is capable of so many amazing colours and effects, as masterfully demonstrated here by Chelsea. Despite this, many people still misunderstand or under-estimate the instrument, which is a real shame.

  • Whoops, I meant "emphasis is on the piano." But if you can recommend some other contemporary/romantic organ pieces similar to this let me know!

  • You could always check out Vierne's Impromptu from his 'Pieces de Fantaisie', or the Divertissement from his '24 Pieces en Style Libre'. They are similar I suppose.

  • The Prelude in Durufle's Prelude Adagio et Choral Varie sur Veni Creator perhaps

  • and... what an organ! :) It seems like a castle or something...

  • @geheimnisvolle The pipe organ in Heinz Chapel is the third organ to serve the building. Re-created in 1994-95 by the Reuter Organ Company, it represents a trend in American organ building to re-use existing materials in an environmentally friendly and musically sound manner.

The chancel console (three manuals and pedal) controls all 4,272 pipes (73 ranks) and three electronic pedal stops. A second console controls a small gallery organ.

  • Grate piece and grate performance! :)

  • *great

  • Chelsea is a wonderful artist and person. We were fortunate to have her for several weeks as a service organist. Our little 30 rank Wicks never sounded better - and she gave a recital too. I believe she has a CD on this instrument.

  • You were indeed very lucky!

  • this might be my favorite organ piece.

  • Phenomenally beautiful performance!
