I think Vincent is very true. It sounds pessimistic to say their is no such thing as a permanent state of happiness but his reasoning was there. I think what he said explains a lot about his character.

I think Vincent's reply is astonishingly accurate, especially the part about the essence of happiness in this materialistic world totally dominated by consumerism and ephemeral values, it's right happiness is for many ppl a goal that they strive at and work towards and unfortunately never realize because in most cases happiness is constantly being redefined on the go, thus it never IS it always MIGHT BE! like it or not that is the way most humans nowadays value their life, based on MIGHT not IS.

I do agree with you Vincent in how the people is, but I desagree about happinness. Happiness is what you make good in your life, when you do good things just for the good. I have passed by a lot of things and I can tell you I could be the saddest person in the world, but I'm happy. I'm a very happy person. Google the "paradox of happiness," you'll see he makes sense:

The theory is if you do/buy things with the purpose of achieving happiness, you won't be happy.

At the first look she directs at em that could look like a disdain may have been just a surprised reaction to opening up with heroes being the real tragic ones. I said that too when I watched it the first time, but after I saw this video again I think it's exactly the opposite. Watch how her face and her body respond to what he is saying. She even starts breathing heavier after he talks for a while, but looks elsewhere as if she's keeping her thoughts from manifesting in her facial expressions. I think she's excited by him.

I think Vincent would have been a better choice than the dude she's with now, but oh well

Also, Vincent isn't a nihilist, he explains that having what everyone else deems to be happiness doesn't make one happy. By believing Americans are sadder than Europeans he believes happiness exists, but it cannot be objectified and therefore, in a way, doesn't exist.
