I would like to know how they are getting told to hold off, but I can guess at the reason: The Taliban fighters look the same as the non-Taliban fighters who look the same as the civilians. I am not sure why you already denying the possibility of the peaceful life just because you never experienced. I grow up in the environment to grow/share without much money and no one carry guns around. The life was not easy since we had a typhoon, earthquake, land slide, mountain fire almost every year and all crops could damage and all year of work could diminish within one day. I grow up in the environment to grow/share without much money and no one carry guns around. The life was not easy since we had a typhoon, earthquake, land slide, mountain fire almost every year and all crops could damage and all year of work could diminish within one day. Yes the Taliban only fights those who figh them, and by "fighting them" means, physical fighting,support them with money,giving them the plans of the Taliban etc.
Just take the case of (the journ.) Yvonne Ridley who was captured by the Taliban, she was amazed of how they treated their prisoners and how devoted they where in their fate, the Taliban released her with one condition " read the Qur'an" and one year later after her release she converted to Islam.

Trust me, they wont lose. More and more of the Afghan army are leaving their posts and joining the Taliban. Even more and more of the common people starts to support them.
