  • It is horrible what these coal companies do. I have seen it myself in East Kentucky. We need laws to mine coal the traditional way. There is one spot in West Virginia where the plans are to have BILLIONS of gallons of coal sluge "contained" "forever" in one valley that has old coal mining shafts in it.

this practice of mountain topping is an affront to the people living there and to our country and most of all to God. This land is being destroyed.

  • You are stupid... Do research before you make a bigger fool out of yourself than you already are...

  • I have seen it with my own eyes. What is your research like?

  • I see it everyday. I see DEP inspectors come in and check everything we are doing. I see MSHA come in and inspect our job site. Inspect our equipment, our work areas... all aspects of our job. I see state inspectors do the same thing. I see deer feeding in our reclaimed areas. I see bears, rabbits, red tail hawks, and every other animal that is suppose to be in that area. I see a crew of men bow their heads every morning asking God to keep us safe. I know my research is true.

  • I'm sorry for the name calling but people have to be told the truth. Minig companies do not do whatever they please. There are government agencies to regulate the agencies charged with governing the mining industry. Everything that is done on a MTR job is by plan. Approved by laws that have been passed. It is all legal. Again... I apologize for my first response, but I will never apologize for the job I am doing or the future jobs I will be fighting for.

  • Apology accepted.

Other than the almighty buck, what reason can they not mine using traditional shaft mines. The land is scarred, toxins are in the creeks and rivers - some of the most beautiful land on earth is being descreted.

And just because some damned yankees have some "laws" and "rules" doesn't me anything. They are exploiting the area like we are a third world country.

    Mining: Yes!

    Mountain Topping: HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh it's legal so it must be ok.
