@iamearthbornami hydro power is better then fossil fuels, but dams destroy ecosystems as well. Look what has happened to the Salmon populations. Solar, wind, bio fuels, thats the direction we need to be going. But I would take hydro over fossil fuels any day.

We cannot drill our way into the future. We must instead invest in alternative energy resources.

I think the point is to invest in alternative energies while still using what non-foreign oil resources we have to get us there.

The point is that we can't drill our way into the future, whether it's foreign or domestic oil. Using our own dirty oil resources will only give the US about 2 months worth of fuel at the rate of our current consumption. We need to invest in alternative energy resources now before causing more irreversible damage to the marine ecosystem and environment.
