  • This song introduced me to the wider world of Dire Straits, all I had heard before this was Sultans Of Swing.

  • se sono giu' ascolto questo pezzo e tutto torna a sorridere mitici Dire Straits

  • Evergreen stuff ...grew up listening to this.

  • So great. Albums don't get any better than their self-titled one is.

  • lol

  • i play this song at least 10 times a day...

  • That's not weird or anything...

  • its a good song i just listen to it alot.

  • I think that's one of his famous Schecter Strats, a southern California company that used the Fender style

  • Who cares about Garcia. Mark Knopfler is win.

  • I miss this kind of music...

  • This is what i call MUSIC.

  • Tru music!!! Luv it!!!

  • jus beautiful

  • just the video is live, the audio is from somewhere else...from original album

  • fuck me this is music

  • i can play his riffs but couldnt even attempt singing and playing em' brilliant

  • Mannn loveeeeeee this songggg!!! :)

    Knopfler is undoubtedly a genius!!

  • thumbs up ur twats, Jerry Garcia is a god! The grateful dead are the fathers of psychedelic music/rock !

  • not really - 13th floor elevator probably is :P

  • Ahmen!

  • He is unreal. Many people can sing or write a song, but his guitar talent is on another level

  • best.the end

  • I go to Angeluccis for my coffee beans too. It's in Frith Street, Soho.

  • Let's keep it at "BRILLIANT GUITARIST"!!

    One of the best ever.

  • Ugly? who cares? He is genius song writer & guitarist

  • Not to us girlies, he wasn't.

  • tsstrat, 'backstreet boys' was made for you... what are you doing here? :|

  • This was the second Dire Straits song I ever learned to play on guitar. "The Man's Too Strong" being the first. Love this song!

  • Wel wat mis met je Engles hoor! Klein Beetje, maar het zelfde gaat voor mijn Nederlands.

This is a lovely song, it takes me back to the Days I was living in London and I would often stroll down Shaftsbury Ave, and stop into a Caff there, and sit and watch th epeople go by, mostly watch the Chicks, before heading down to Marble Arch to do some Busking.

  • Wow, Dire Straits are so good

  • he seems so prosperous at that time !!

love to see the old vids !!

  • Dire straits are GOD!!!!

  • Mark Knopfler is the best and the God :)

  • Hell Fucking Yess

  • reminds me of my smoke filled dorm room, first girlfriend, singing along and learning how to do it right.

  • assuming posters have seen "the best guitar performance ever"?.....unbelievable

  • LOL, name me someone who can play better?

  • Only recently discovered this song. Pure genius!

  • Another thing, you are watching and listening to pure genius.

  • Pure genius. the most under-rated group of all time. People are so ga ga over Clapton, Mark puts his lame a** to shame. what a talented band. this whole album is a masterpiece. Conductress on the number 19, she was a honey.....

  • agreed.

  • Mate, they ain't underated.

120 Million records sold (also including "Mark Knopfler").

Everytime they brang out an Album in Dire Straits, it would go to like number-1... And stay there for ages.

Though, theres so many brainless kids these days, who can't seem to recognise what talent is.

They'd choose rap, hip hop, techno over these classics.

They have to take their heads out of popularitys arse, and listen to what real Music is.

  • AMEN!!!

  • ur right, most of the kids listen to crappy music, but i'm 16 and i listen to dire straits, led zappelin, santana and a lot of other classics, only one friend of mine likes it as well, the rest rather listens to whats high in the charts,

sorry if my english isn't correct but that's because i'm dutch

  • good taste of music for your age then.

    btw

niets mis met je engels ;)

  • same here... I hate most of today's music... Wish that the music of the 70s, 80s and even early 90s could be the music of today...

  • What about bands like The White stripes, The Raconteurs, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear and Loney Dear, just to name a few of my favorites =)

But yea this song is legendary (as is the band, the album and all mark knoplfer solo ablums)

  • lol......couldnt agree more

  • He did something with his mouth at 2:28-2:30, and he did it with the guitar at 2:43

  • This is so good there should be a law against it!

  • so much talent , i dont believe it possible

    yet it is

  • Musical perfection

  • One of the sweetest songs ever recorded.

  • comeon...from eric to floyd to straits...the Brits got it goin.......I am US born and bred but for recent bands like pearl, kid, motown....these Brits got some good stuff....

  • How can u not love this song.

  • this song reminds me of going to some of dc's best chinese whore houses with my good buddy hugh. it was back in 98 and this song is still great!

  • ho la la !!!! MA...RE...I...A...

  • mabey he greatest song ever

  • He isn't, though he's rated as 27th best in Rolling Stone Magazine of "100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time".

  • did they put an acoustic effect on the rythm guitar

  • seems that way

  • the audio is from the cd.. video is live.. the sound is not the same..

  • yeah, just watched sultans from same session.

  • Is this played in open tuning?

  • NO standard tuning

  • Great great song, an all time fave. Cheers for putting this up!
