Well, stations are clear because, along with workers keeping them clean, passengers do not throw paper or cigarettes into the floor. One question: is this line authomaticized? I ask because it is very difficult to stop a long train exactly where driver wants, I think that the trains we see here have got the "target authomatic stop system"
@THUGANGEL You are flat-out wrong. The barriers are there because the platforms are so busy during rush hour. Many people have been accidentally killed by the thronging masses. The barriers are not at all stations just the busiest. Research before you post.
Usually in asian countries, they don't allow gum or food in train stations and they actually have people that walk around and tell people to throw away gum if they're chewing it, haha
Dang thats nice , here in brasil the train stuff is damn horrible , and sometimes are really disgusting , people have no education at all , they block your way so you can´t get out of the train , bunch of fuck useless people :p
I have to admit that the japanese train system is perfection.... I miss the little tunes they play then the trains get to the station... God I want to back so bad.....
@zentotoro There are serious issues with overcrowding that seriously affect the quality of life of commuters. This could probably not be fixed without massive outlays of public money that the Japanese country just doesn't have. So great but not perfect.
What's the big deal? The trains are a defined length, and the doors are a measured distance apart. All the train has to do is stop at a specific location in the station and everything else lines up. It's not some sort of repeating mathematical miracle.
this is not that ultra technologic after all. the new metro here in Turin works quite similar, the differences are that all the accesses to the line are blocked by a tunnel made of glass and all the trains work on their own, there is no driver
Dude, if you film it at an angle and both lines line up, therefore they are not perfectly line up because you didn't film it straight. it's looks like about 5 inches off.
No kidding, New York's subway system is the equivalent of a trailer park.
All the urban enthusiasts will probably thumb-down me into oblivion for daring to sleight any part of New York, and go ahead I say. NY's subway is a dump and you know it.
lol, why dont they have railings in all trinstations of the world?? i saw in the news that a lady had left her baby stroller alone for a few seconds when it rolled and fell down the train tracks, but the baby was ok i think
Some older systems in Tokyo have full screen doors.
They don't use the full size screens anymore, because of the cost and problems with emergency evacuation. If there were earthquake or fire, and the car did not stop at designated position, people will not be able to get out immediately. They have to go to the emergency doors at the each ends, but trains in Tokyo is usually crowded and about 200m long, so it takes time. If you have half sized screens, you can just get out and jump over it.
haha look at people giving you thumbs down because you didn't mentioned Japan in your comment, pretty sad. ( I'm japanese myself who lives in europe )
course the only line that has it on the tube or the london undergroud to those who dont know bout these nicknames the only setion that uses a system like that is the extension of the jubilee line
This technology is called perfect park. It's used in Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia for most of its mass transit network where there are "screen doors" to protect people from getting to the track.
Japanese trains seldom use ATO or something like that. Some railway lines even return to manual driving after testing ATO. For JR, no automatic driving system is used with no exception for the Shinkansen. The ATC used on board likes the ATP used by the western countries but without E-brake function when the train exceeds the limit. It just make the train to slow down.
not exactly, in japan the drivers skill is what determines how accurately they line up with the platform markings. the trains are manually controlled in japan with an automatic control system that corrects the driver if he goes too far out of whack. this is why you can tell an experienced driver from a new driver on a train in japan, new drivers lay on the brakes real hard, a vet will stop the train within 3cm of the markings, exactly on time to the very second, and you can't even feel it.
What station is that? I've never seen walls in front of the tracks before. Not that I've been everywhere in Japan, but still. I find the walls more interesting than the accuracy. (Yeah, I take that for granted now in Nippon.)
That is station called "Akihabara" which is common place for otaku (Anime, Manga, etc). All Tsukuba Express line, Yurkamome line, Nanboku Subway, Yurakucho Line has door on the platform. There are many train that have platform door.
Don't be silly. The doors and the gate are actually out of alignment. The carmera was at an angle to the door and even though the door and the gate seem to line up perfectly in the camera, thay are actually out of alignment when viewed at 90 degrees (directly in front) the gate and doors.
you think so ? no i don't , i stayed in Tokyo for 3 years and the platform actually they installed something tech so that the train will stop on the position ..
@SEThatered LOL What modern train does not do this "precision" thing with a wide tolorence of +/- 20 cm? Any modern train and platform that has a platform gate/door installed has the same kind of precision. I am not saying this is not precise but it is definitely not the "PERFECT ALIGNMENT" that this video is boasting about. The train's approach is precise enough and the station is clean, but it is not any more than any other modern train stations. It is good but just nothing too special.
@SEThatered Just because I do not agree with you means I have not been to many countries to compare with? What kind of assumption is that? Just let me say this, my work has brought me to more cities than most people will see in their life time, I may not use the local public transit all the time but I have seem enough, and that includes Germany. Well, Japan has a very good system (and aging) that's all, nothing too special and certainly not perfection. Open your eyes, don't just rely on youtube.

LOL this "out of alignment" still matches the gate size.
+/-20cm does not make a big difference (it is called "dimensions and tolerances")
Yet to stop a fast approaching heavy train within 20cm precision IS a perfection.
BTW have you also noticed how perfectly clean the station is?
