this is interesting. i've never heard of any of these engines before! are they new? ixquick looks very similarly organized to google, is it possible that it's owned by google?
@djsugah I have known about these search engines for a few years so they are not too new. SmartPage (smartpage [dot] com) owns ixquick, it is a Dutch company :)
@djsugah (con't)..oh I think the Dutch company that owns ixquick is called "Surfboard" ..they own ixquick, startpage and startingpage, which are all private search engines :)
@djsugah You can use them just like google except with ixquick it is private so ixquick does not record your IP address and they do not send your information (your IP, what you searched for) to third parties. They probably make money from advertisers the way a lot of search engines do. Blackle is google but with an energy saving page, and goodsearch is paid for by advertising companies, they send money to a chosen charity when you use the search engine. All of them are free to use :)
