I had my first Flight training in a DA-20 yesterday. It was awesome! The thought of doing an actually putting the craft into a stall is scary though it may be necessary. I would feel better and more skilled as a pilot personally if I had the actual experience of the stall/spin training just so I know what to do in case it actually does happen.
UtahPilotChip, in your descrip. it reads that "one wing (right or left) stalls before the other which causes the aircraft to roll toward the stalled wing leading to a spin."
This is not correct, due to the fact that in order for a spin to occur, BOTH wings must first stall. There's been no way to aerodynamically test whether both wings remained stalled throughout the maneuver, but theory has it, that one wing (the outside wing) starts to generate lift AFTER the initial stall.
@deadlymix014 C'mon dude really? You gotta be like that? UtahPilotChip is just giving a general idea of what a spin is to those who might not know what he's talking about. Go play engineer on your own time.
@ColdSHeep I am not canadian, I used live in Utah for 20 years. I always go to KPVU all time. I knew Richard Randall, hes my instructor for Diamond DA20-C1, I knew these instructor like one in the video. Besides Im just learning though. To me, I feel like these need to know how to basics because what happen if the plane lost speed and the pilot doesnt know how to handle the stall/spin?
@Chris40679 Nope, you are likely thinking of Cirrus aircraft. I think Diamond may offer a parachute system in some of their newer aircraft. From what I have heard, Cirrus needed the parachute system to receive FAA certification, and that their aircraft are unable to get out of certain spin situations. Parachute systems, while a neat concept, aren't my favorite idea. They add extra weight, destroy the aircraft when used, and are an easy go to in a sticky situation.
@UtahPilotChip Easy go to meaning if there is an inexperienced pilot flying, even though he may have other good options in an emergency situation, it is easy to opt for the parachute.
@UtahPilotChip Agreed. I'm a student Pilot training in the DA-20. Ours have no chute. Weight and is at a premium in these planes already. Just fly the thing. It'll glide forever practically and it really wants to fly.
This is a great vid of a spin. i don't think you could demonstrate one any better. 975CT is a good flying plane. I flew it during my private and commercal certificates

Spin training..awesome fun!

To take a flight training, have to go through this spin and stuff. No spin training no license. I love to fly, doing that just like a roller coaster.

@boeing737d You must be Canadian or something because here in the US we are not required to do spins, though we should.

@UtahPilotChip Ah, good because we were doing stability and somehow got to the topic of parachutes. Just wondering thanks for the answer.

@UtahPilotChip Parachutes may destroy the aircraft on deployment, but so does crashing. I think they're a positive thing.
