Hey, trick for the magneto, take it right to bits, shine the points, check the coils for continuity with a multimeter, and leave the magnet sitting on a wood bench for a week with nothing around it. Should go after that.
@enginelover1 I didnt intend to upload any videos until 2012 due to Internet and Computer problems. Slow speed etc. Now been sorted with AOL. Had to sort out my wireless router. Computers and me dont mix. Rather an oily cloth man these days.
I've recently been given one of these, mine has "5" stamped in cowling so easy to identify, i grabbed it for parts for my clifford tiller but can't convince myself to dismantle it. Do you know if you can get rings and other bits for these? Mine has poor compression and no spark.
@rotaryhoes Ok matey poor compression will increase when it has been run so it maybe ok. No spark is try polishing the points so they shine. Spares are mor likely through villiers parts (spares) uk.
@MakeDoAndMend1 Thanks for that info, i'm only new to restorations so learning fast. Doing up a villiers 11c at the moment for my allen scythe. Got my parts on order with George at villiersparts, a man of few words! But very good price and very reliable. I've been looking up lots of engines on youtube (only just discovered youtube not long ago) And you do the best paint jobs! Is it just enamel? Any secrets in preparation? Cans/gun? I bought a book and am now so so confused!

Yup thats a Model 5, nice little engine that. Almost too good to take to bits!
If you measure the bore you can find what it is.
