  • you got hooked up pretty sweet that year and i know this is not a fake and to all the so called experts who claimed it was......get a clue scooby doo.

  • why wouldn't it be real? It's sad that people who can't afford this stuff today are so jealous of the fact that you owned all this.....reallllly sad. Great video btw...

  • Clearly a fake. Notice the kid has brown hair. Children weren't allowed to have brown hair in the 1960's. Obviously that's an android. Nice try though!

  • Now that this 8mm film is brought into question. I thought I'd ask how the opening footage was created "Merry Christmas 1967" (letters falling into place as if filmed with them blowing away then played back in reverse). Did those cameras record in reverse to capture that effect?

  • @mikehoeting

My dad was using frame by frame, stop motion annimation. The camera was equipt with a frame shot. tedious but effective, esp for 1967

  • I love the folks of here that are acting like the Warren commission studying the Zapruder film,I have been a Captain Action collector since 1966,I firmly believe that this film is the real deal and I think that it is wonderful that he decided to share it with everyone! I could sit and watch it over and over again, those really were the best of times!

  • Also, regarding Aqualad, I've looked at this over and over and it's clear to me that the die-cuts are present; there's definitely some sort of extraneous "white space" but if you watch carefully, this changes position as the box moves. I'm guessing it's either a reflection on the cellophane or something in the box (like a brochure or a note from grandma).

  • I think this video is great, esp b/c I love CA. I'm not a "hater" or jealous, but merely see inconsistencies. The key one - and i'd love any CA experts to comment on this - is that the Aqualad box drawing of Aqualad on the front panel lower left is not die cut (meaning - cut around his arm/head/sword). Compare the video to an image on the internet of the box. It's at :33 to :36 in video. It's not hard to see. That's it - there is no variation in this box from Ideal. Experts!?!?

  • No, folks, this is all looks REAL to me.. And I LOVE it.

    Besides, who.. really.. cares..?

You folks are the same folks that argue the Moon landings..

  • This was AWESOME!!! I loved it,..and brought me so many memories back in 67 too when I got Capt. America and Batman outfits,...and two Dr. Evils??? At least my dad took one back and replaced him for an Action boy (no CA's left). Great video!!!!!

  • Silver Streak box, if new, would have had metal staples on the end, so quickly opening the flaps (in video) could not have happened, and it had big cardboard inserts inside, which would have had to have been removed before taking the toy out. The boy in the video pulls the toy out (no inserts). Oh yeah, a new C/A doll itself has a cardboard insert...which was not in the box. I love this video though, and it's so fun to imagine what it would have been like to open those great toys back then!

  • @stuntsister

the silver streak box had no metal staples in it. I kept the box for years to "garage" the silver streak, untorn.

I am really amused at these self proclaimed experts that are so jaded because of all the fan created items on YouTube, that they cannot believe the real thing. All of this video is 100% genuine. And by the way, the boy is ME.

  • Of course this is authentic. And Pristine Mint Captain Actions boxes do have a luster. Those are real and vintage. Plus I've know Chris and Andi like forever and they are honest folk. Enjoy the film. It's the real thing.

  • OK, guys, are you kidding me? I was THERE when this was filmed in 1967. I don't know what you are seeing, but let me assure you this WAS Christmas of 1967.The sprocket holes on the side are because this is an 8mm film played with a Super 8mm projector, which is a wider film. The reflection off the box are the bright movie lights, off the brand new White boxes which, when new, were highly reflective. Why are trying to disprove a harmless video of my brother and I as kids? Sorry, this is the real deal.

  • I watched this in the morning, enjoyed it, and didn't think twice about it. But now that my attention is called to it, I can see that there are some discrepancies between case-fresh, mint C.A. toys and the ones in the vid. They simply do not shine like that, even in the brightest light. Plus the sprocket holes on the left side of the film seem like a filter because in reality they would be on the black edge of the film, not in the viewing area. Is this a modern film made to look old?

  • @advicecream

the sprocket holes were because the projector I used was duel 8, both super 8 and 8mm. the super 8 was wider, so I ran the 8mm on super 8 so that there would be more of the film viewable. A tiny bit more, but I took it.

  • Love the video regardless. Nice to meet other people into this stuff.

  • I totally agree with nikooly. The dead giveaway that this is a fake video is the Aqualad Box. Notice that the left arm of Aqualad is not die-cut in the video, unlike the real box.

I do applaude your efforts though - very entertaining!

  • @stuntsister

Again, I really wish I were as talented as you two think I am. I have the original 8mm film tapes from 67. Those are MY original toys. Reproduction was unheard of in 67. I am telling you, this video was made from my original 8mm movie films, that I projected on a screen and video taped, then transferred to dvd, then to YouTube.

Aqualad is cut out of the cardboard with the cellophane behind it. The film is old, the quality poor, but is 100% authentic.

  • @andiorl Nope. That Aqualad image is not cut out, it's totally there, but not die cut like the authentic box. You can admit it now, or later...but that video is not vintage! It's very fun though, and I do respect your efforts.

  • Very creative! Almost had me convinced until I saw the high-gloss on the packages. At 1:28 you can see the shine on the whole Spiderman package. Either a repro or shrinkwrapped. The window would do this but not the outer edges. Same as on the Silver Streak at 1:46. Not a glossy or shrinkwrapped box. Also, where are the inserts?

  • @nikooly

you must be one of those people that thought we didnt land on the moon. This is authentic Christmas `67. They were not shrink wrapped at all , the boxes had a natural shine to them when reflected off of my dads 4 huge flood lights.

  • Great video. I just added it up and all that happiness probably only cost $32.

  • sooo very cool. some very good and valuable captain action sets!

  • I had a great time shopping for these Captain Action pieces! I got them all in Alexanders, and the shelves were almost bare. I grabbed every CA box I could find.Spiderman was on the very bottom shelf, and in the back against the wall. You couldn't see him unless you bent down and peered between the metal shelves. I grabbed him and noticed the cellophane was ripped, right where the little spider was. I almost put it back, but figured it was better to have ripped than not at all. Guess I did good!

  • It doesn't get any better than this!!! Absolutely fantastic!!!!

  • I have a HUGE smile on my face after watching your wonderful video! What fabulous memories--and how fortunate that it was captured on film! Thank you SO much for sharing it with, well... the world (as well as all of us Captain Action fans)!
