it's so much easier then this.  just download the profile to your iphone turn on tether, connect bluetooth to any mac instant on this is all not even needed. ill do a video soon, you do not need to create networks or anything.

The Cracked 1.52 version of pdanet works really well all I had to do was ssh the deb file on my phone so it was no big deal.

Pretty good! Thanks a lot for this information. I will buy PDAnet for sure because I need this application for when I'm out on the road. I originally bought a bluetooth USB dongle thinking I could connect to my laptop using the dongle but in the end didn't work at all, I could only connect to my bluetooth headset. I have one question though... I read somewhere that my cell phone service provider might slap me with HUGE data charges if I use the tether.. should I worry? or is that just a scare?

The only problem with PDANET is that the iPhone gets really really hot! and while pdanet is on your phone wont charge!!!!

I don't understand why they charge more... I live in Finland and pay 10 euros a month for unlimited internet on my phone... I can tether the phone to my laptop and use the internet as much as I want that way at no extra cost... (Nokia phone btw, not iPhone)

Tethering may or may not ;) be against AT&T terms of service if you don't purchase a tethering plan. So AT&T could have some problems with this,

Live in the US & tethering not currently an option for iPhone users. AT&T to offer tether plan this summer, but will price gouge us for an additional $30/mo. HELL NO!

Safari browsing sucks on iPhone--no Flash support & many sites crash-especially when you have to enter form data in-sometimes only option is to tether. Handy when hotels/cafes want to charge $ for wifi.

Been tethering since Aug 08. Even tethering now. NEVER been charged extra by AT&T. Don't d/l huge files & you should be fine.

PdaNet was nice on my jailbroken 2.2.1, but I would always get untethered from time to time when on it (probably because of several devices around airports, etc.). If you can't use 3.0 and official tethering, your best bet is when you create a computer network that you WEP password it.. that way youll stay on without any trouble. :)
