  • Who's the guy at 0:46?

  • miss the 90's gaming scene especially ps1 was my all time favourite console, still is and still own one today

  • Does anyone remember an advert where a guy eats a playstation? I'm sure i didnt make it up, but cant find any references to it anywhere.

  • LOVE this line: "You may not think it, to look at me,

but I have commanded armies and conquered worlds."

  • Fantastic! One of the best TV ads ever. How I miss that 'underground' PlayStation culture.

  • Oh 90s. You will be missed.

  • hurr Im a gamer look at me

  • Still gives me chills!

  • @dropdadime In-Fucking-Deed! It also gives me chills!

  • Brings back some many good memorys

  • Amazing video, does anyone know where can I find it in HD? Thanxxxxxx!!

  • Just got goosebumps watching that. Gutted I'm at work, I really want to play now!

  • This is beautiful

  • This speaks for us ALL GAMERS!

  • The "Michael" ad reminded me of this. GAMER PRIDE

  • Comment removed

  • Fi-Fi >>> Michael

  • Guys It's a commercial about weird dreams sponsored by playstation this has nothing to do with videogames

  • @alperen65 Are you fucking retarded? Must be a troll...

  • Fuck Michael. Not even my name!

  • last night when i was playing mag i felt like ''i have comanded armys´´

  • @MOUPIMOUPI It has everything to do with video games. You just need to free your mind and play video games of true immersion and escapism. If you just play Wii Sports, yes, this will mean nothing to you.

  • @GeneStarwind09 i've already played motherfucking lsd dream emulator and that had more to do with video games than this pseudo-intellectual hipster 2deep4u bullshit

  • Damn. How come we never got a commercial like this in the US?

  • @DarcOfTheShadows Because the US is a shithole.

  • @devilMiro so's 98% of englind lol....

  • @froggydarren obviously that 2% makes all the difference then you spastic.

  • @devilMiro Well you got the math's right at least so well done for that :)

  • that little kid with the Scottish accent "and conquered worlds" is the best bit i can truly say i have lived.

I spent a stupid amount of money on my playstation when i got one in Dec 1996.

I did make a firing squad up on command and conquer red alert when your guys went the wrong way around the map to the objective and screwed up, I brought them back to base and stood them against a little wall i made the gunned them down. Ah! good times

My career as a general never took off :(

  • whilst fighting in a virtual on a pacific ocean island battlefield I lead a team of friends to victory at the highest levels in Europe.

I was able to take financial rewards from my virtual endeavours that took me to places and made me meet faces that I would never otherwise have done, and During my now past time gaming I met some true life long friends.

  • this reminds me of back in the day, 1999 feeling irie in school and going to London on Friday evenings and hanging round Grove, W10

  • press 7 WTF!!! XD

  • Now take that you artfag french perfume commercial makers. PlayStation can do better.

  • back when Playstation adverts werent shit.. come on Sony, you owe us the best TV ad ever for the ps3!

  • epic

  • Absolutely the best TV ad I have seen showing gamers. Period. Ever. Go Sony. You rule.

  • I suddenly don't feel as bad about spending so much time playing video games.

  • I felt like this after playing BFBC2 last night. My medic was running around reviving and killing simultaneously.

  • 0:48 hawt

  • @MrFabianFabio 100% agreed

  • @MrFabianFabio

    Indeed.

  • Sure, beautiful ad and all, but someone's gotta say it. "At least I can say I have lived" does NOT fit in with video games.

  • @JayVanEsbroek Right, because other meaningless hobbies such as art and sports are oh so much more higher value in "life" right? If you enjoy your life and are happy with how you live it.. then you have lived.

  • @DoubleHelixPrdctns Sports? No, that's a game. Games are entertainment, meant only to make life less boring and remedial. Art, however, is art. Something you can create, something you can use to express your soul on canvas, paper, or pixel. A form of constructive creativity unmatched by anything. However, when art's finished, and it's on a wall, staring at it is not living, it's viewing. Games are also viewed, unless you're creating them. I agree with your point, regardless, but I stand by mine.

  • All hail the PC master race, ps-triple is just for casuals, bads and scrubnubs.

  • Commanded armies..engaged in violence..maimed and killed...

Yeah. Sure guys. Whatever you say.

  • goosebumps! way to go, Sony - I wouldn't have been a gamer without the Playstation

(yes yes, I know many of you coolers gais played Nintendo as did I along with the MegaDrive but I'm 21 but the PS2 is my favourite console of all time)

  • Perfection. Brings a reality to the art that is gaming. Love it xD

  • yah this commercial takes itself way to seriously.

  • meh

  • Fat old Russian pedophile FTW!

  • Holy shit, thats awesome.

  • Yes Thunder Curls, it's called advertising.

  • Bill Murray at 0:46 !!!11

  • @ThunderCurls at least we can say...we never trolled.

  • @MarkP0rter Well it is modern but it give's use multiple views at characters persenting to use one item which allows them to live out side of the wall's of ever day routen. It may seem artsy but at the time in the late 90's ever commercial company was doing this style of advert and allowing there artistic sides to show. Both of these things give a really truly amazing feeling to this advert. And that last question was just you trolling.

  • wow... if only more ads were like this

  • I did not used the audio, I dont know what they said but how could I figure out that it was a videogame ad?

  • Cool video thanks - have favourited on our channel here - we favourite the best brand videos on youtube. Cheers

  • Anyone know the music to this?

  • @jamesstafforduk Faure - Requiem Sanctus

  • That "conquered worlds" kid still freaks me out.

  • my parents have no idea of the things i've seen and done.

  • @JeffBilkins kinda creepy

  • LIMB

  • DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PLAYSTATION. Damn right

  • this is fucking stupid

  • God damn I hated Sony's horrible arrogance and pop culture BS back then

  • @TheBroz

This poem is an ode for every gamers, not only for PS fanboys.

Don't take it that way, dude.

  • Comment removed

  • WHY DO ALL BRITISH PEOPLE SOUND THE SAME?

  • @pizza87760 because thats how we speak

  • whats this song called?

  • @king93b the music is ...........faure's sanctus

  • @finx2much thanks you.

  • I'm not really sure if this would be a good commercial for expanding on TV...For kids.

  • I actually used this as a poem for my speech class in high school.a got an A!

this makes me PROUD TO BE A GAMER!

  • @awesomestation3 wahjah

  • @awesomestation3 plagiarism

  • 0:47 hawt

  • Brings tears to my eyes every. single. time.

    What a masterpiece!

  • @choskar

Kids are kids, if there were tv's and computer's in those days also most kids would be playing with them if they had acces.

  • 0:30 can push my PS3 buttons anyday :P

  • B - B - B - B - B - B - BONKERS!

  • First PS was more than just console, it was phenomen.

  • Best ad ever... I never saw anything that even comes remotely close to this ;-)

  • fucking brilliant !

  • Happy Birthday Playstation! 15 year anniversary.

  • The reason why this advert was successful and also boasted up the sales of Playstation machine amongs adults. It didn't portray the game players as a spotty and cool teenager (well like those early Nintendo advert), but ordinary people from children to adults. I remember this PSX and Guiness advert were those really creative and memorable advert made in England in the 90's. Still England makes the best adverts, my recen fave is Eyebrow dance from Cadbury.

  • i love british accent

  • Who's the busty mom?

  • the boy at 0:44 still creeps me out

  • @SuperGeordielegend I felt my blood pressure dropping at 0:23

  • i live a double life im either outside jumping around rooftops pretending to be assassins with my friends XD or indoors beating the shit out of a Greek God who may or may not be my your father ^_^ i just prefer it when me and my friends can have a good time

  • Anyone else notice a lot of topless guys in this commercial? Obviously, PS1 sold amazingly well because it tried to appeal to everyone, even LGBT! Genius, GENIUS!!

  • i have led a double life, i have commanded, killed ,died and saved. i also found that the ps3 was bolloks for all of these things and bought a 360

  • @Meashisgod Idiot.

  • That wheel chair guy reminded me of Lil Wayne lol

  • The Declaration of Video Game-Dependence (Independence).

  • Definitely shows that PlayStation has excellent and groundbreaking games. They can put the games they've played on their résumé.

  • Well done sir. We shall work on this yet. But bar the cast the stage accepts this as The garlequins final curtain

  • Best game system advert ever made.

  • oh Sony Europe...you so crazy!!!

at least there is no penis thumb

  • this add was written by Trevor Bungay of BMB agency, london for those who were wondering.

  • @nanthikan it was actually made when Trevor Beattie was Executive Creative Director of TBWA London, before he set up his own agency.

  • @savsavage, i did know that, but my comment failed to explain that.

  • this ad rates right up there with the best of them - unequalled diversity through the power of suggestion - absolute class!

  • Still one of the best TV ad's ever.

  • the black guy in the wheelchair is Bboy Junior...wtf

  • Although this one of the most captivating commercials ever, it's also one of the most melodramatic.

"at least I can I say, I've lived..." Oh please, it's just a fkin game console

  • WTF?!

  • This is the most beautiful and best made spot i've ever seen.

  • best. thing. ever. made. by. a. human. being. that. was. born. on. this. planet. we. call. earth. in. this. here. solar. system. situated. in. this. galaxy. in. this. universe.

    goodnight.

  • who ever made this advert should be making films or something.

Ain't forgot this advert after 10 years,

    awesome fukin wells

  • I love these types of ads. I also love the American PS3 ads, they're hilarious. However, I'd love to see a return to more "artsy" ads like these, without going TOO out there(creepy robot baby...). I liked the "This Is Living" ads but they didnt really say anything about PS3. It'd be cool if they commissioned some director to create a series of ads like how David Lynch did a few for PS2.

  • its like the whole commercial is talking about God of War, almost

  • @fukuupfirst skinhead 4 life? Sitting on your couch playing video games is a way better way to spend your free time than being a drunken, racist piece of shit.

Have fun getting raped in prison though!

  • This IS what gaming is all about

  • the psx survived the n64, then the ps2 stood unchallenged against the gamecube and the dreamcast, then the psp rivals the ds, and now xbox and the ps3 are head to head. great graphics in killzone 2 and modern warfare 2, balanced pros and cons for online features, huge varieties of exclusive games, bbciplayer and skyplayer. the ps3 has the internet, skyplayer is being fixed, blu-ray was introduced by ps3 but the 360 has gaming at its heart and soul and that's why i love it.

  • this advert was on the video of the bond film tomorrow never dies. it's my favourite advert ever.

  • wow...most persuading advert ever...

  • creepy

  • i commmanded armies (endwar lol)

  • Tears came from my eyes. If this commercial was shown in my country i would games more than i already do. Well, now that i saw i do love the games more than i did, if its possible.

  • This is the commercial that made me buy my first PS2... and made me drop my college subjects and made me wear spectacles...

    no regrets here...

  • I see the Xbox Defence Force members are hard at work, even on a playstation advert as old as this...how very fucking sad...

  • Absolutely amazing

still one of the best ads I've ever seen

  • Except that playing a PS allows you to become all those people and do all those things whereas you can drink a Pepsi.

  • That's why you watch the whole thing.

  • such powerful marketing. i get chills by the end.

  • Did you not watch it the whole way through? He says almost the entire last line too.

  • I wont deny the ad is awesome, and i love videogames and yes i have felt adrenalin, fear, anger, etc... but i was a kid once who really lived and played in mud and dirt, grass, and rain. nowadays kids arent interested much in those things, they just wanna be in front of the tv and pc all day long... thinking that is life, kinda sad in my opinion

  • I've spent a large amount of time in my life playing games. However I cannot help but look back and think that perhaps it would've been better to put my time in other past times. To this day I do still look back with nostalgia at the great games I played as a kid and still have great memories. However looking at that advert, it would appear to portray games and their players as more than this. Ultimately it's just consumers looking for way to past the time outside of TV, movies and other stuff

  • I dont think they care whether being in front of the tv and pc is life or not they just want to have fun just like you did when you played in mud and dirt, grass, and rain which i bet you didnt do because it was life you did it to enjoy to FEEL thus you was living. If kids these days FEEL or our emotionally stimulated by videogames e.t.c then they are living just as you were.

  • very well put!

  • @choskar5 i'm 17, and around 12 I realized that videogames although fun, hold no use to advancement of your life. So you sit and spend 20 hours in game to beat it...

then what? where has that gotten you. It doesn't matte what your K/d ratio is in COD. Although its fun to compete with friends. In the end, who gives a shit. They're pixels on a screen. Is what it comes down to. In 20 years looking back will it matter whether or not you slayed the dragon?

  • @NicDipVids you just took the whole damn fun out of playing video games just now... you just stabbed everyones excitement.. lol

  • @NicDipVids so what does playing outside and breaking limbs bring you?

  • @NicDipVids I'm sorry but that's complete bollocks. It's the sum of your experiences that makes you the person you are. If pixels and entertainment is all you get out of it, then i'd do a major rethinking of your priorities. If you want more measurable payback from it, you gain better hand eye coordination, reactions and focus. It also gives a sense of accomplishement that everyone needs.

  • @Arenal0

The idea games improve your hand eye coordination, reaction and focus is absolute garbage, or "bullocks" as you would put it lol.

You speak that my person as a whole is reflective of my experiences, yes I agree completely. Saying that, one would think that going out, conversing with another human being, going for a walk, or reading a book, would be a far richer and more beneficial experience than sitting on my couch twiddling my thumbs.

  • @NicDipVids

Reading a book, sitting on your couch... oh much more better - at least you don't have to use your thumbs so much.

Video games are made by expert programmers, designers, and by a lot of highly educated, well skilled professionals. The majority of books are written by idiots. Make HUGE logical fallacies in your book - 95% won't EVER notice. Make ONE slight error in your game - it won't EVER work. But yes, books are so much better. The top 1% ... maybe.

  • @kismacska23 Books are the best! STFU! DX

  • @choskar5 Yes a lot of kids would rather sit home and play video games but they do not think that is ALL to life..I would know I'm a grown up kid who still plays mw2 ;)

  • @choskar5

Doing anything you enjoy doing isn't sad.

  • @choskar5

I agree with dajman completely, if you enjoy doing it, you'd might as well do it.

Playing PlayStation isn't as bad as doing drugs, hurting people and destroying property.

  • @choskar5

    That's your opinion, man.

If they're happy with those few things, good for them.

  • @choskar5 Videogames, for most part, are what feed those . I would play games about being a spy, or a super soldier. And then I would go out and play with my friends, pretending I was the soldier, or Solid Snake infiltrating some place. I even pretended to be MegaMan sometimes.

It was fun, and balanced with lots of gaming. Though I agree that kids theses days could use a little more ACTUAL play.

  • @choskar5

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive, unless you happen to be particularly narrow-minded.

  • WOW awesome!

  • This is the very best advert ever

  • the dude acting as the bike courier is actually a mate of mine :)

  • never watched on the italian tv
