You know, the Pharisees were using the temple of the MostHigh to sell livestock to the people, so that they can sacrifice to atone for their sins against God and seek salvation in Jerusalem. The Papacy was charging the people to pay for indulgences to atone for thier loved ones in Purgatory, and they still demand that you sacrifice today to earn your way to Heaven. Hmm! I just dont know who is more corrupt between the popes and the pharisees, God Himself is the judge of that. Who are we?
@zmode82 not true. yes they used to sell indulgences but that was a wrong act of the church to do and was condemned by the dogmatic council of trent. and we in the catholic church do not believe in earning our way to heaven, by christ alone, we are saved. but by faith and works Christ is working in us and making us right before the Almighty Father in heaven.
I disagree, I think you should spell Catholic w/a capital letter. Just make sure its the Catholic Church centered around Jesus, not the Catholic Church centered around the pope.
Yes Romanists believe that there is "grace" in the transubstantiation, but its not the biblical Grace, because the biblical Grace is cannot be merited (Rom 11:6).
But I generally reject the transubstantiation because Jesus said that if anyone claims that Jesus is physically present on earth, don't believe them (Mat 24:23-26).
Fortunately, this is only your opinion. The early church believes differently.
St Ignatius of Antioch
Epistle to the Smyrnaeans Ch7.
"Let us stand aloof from such heretics
They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes."
voorman1, ignatious was talking about gnostics who denied that Christ has come in the flesh. The gnostics only believed that Christ came in the spirt. He meant eucharist as only a metaphor, becaue no where in the context did Ignatious say anything about bread and whine.
Again, who am I going to believe, somebody who generally falsely claims it is unfounded in scripture, or someone who actually knew St Paul and was a bishop of the church.
"And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

Do Protestants reject transubstantiation because Catholics claim there is grace in the bread & wine? Or are these two teachings unrelated?

For me, it's black and white. If you can find someone from the early church who supports your opinion on scrupture, I'm all ears.

Jesus Christ for one.

More detail?
The 27 books of the New Testament, if you need more detail than these I'm afraid I can't help you.

You're right you can't help me.
You need the OT to understand the NT.
