I would encourage both of you to go to my channel and watch the video of some of my dogs free running in the kennel (something which happens weekly if not daily in my kennel). You tell me if they look "abused" or unhappy.

The video won't be hard to find I only have 2. You can watch the happy sled dogs at work in the other video if you want to while your at it. If not though you can be narrow minded and I will ignore this and go back to my happy life w/ my happy dogs!

Can I make a suggestion? Its not the chain that is the problem here. Its irresponsible owners. I am speaking from personal experience, chaining CAN in fact be done responsibly. I have 9 dogs, 6 of which are chained. They get daily care, love and exercise. I feed, water and clean up after them 2x daily. They all are up to date on routine shots and they all get checked out by a vet once a year (more if its needed).

You speak from experience? What experience is that? Abusing dogs experience?! Please point to ANY data or research about dogs that says chaining these social, sentient beings is acceptable. Chaining dogs is ABUSE! Do some research. Read a book. Educate yourself. A chained dog is an abused dog.

PLEASE unchain your *gasp* 6 dogs! Let them have a REAL life, not a chained prison life. Contact the Humane Society. They can help you and your 6 abused dogs.

@filmsbycindy My dogs are sled dogs (hence my username). They cannot and choose not to be inside. They are all Alaskan Huskies. They don't like being inside. Its not their natural element. They are bred to withstand the outside elements. They are on a chain to keep them safe from getting loose and roaming around the country side and I have 2 dogs that don't get along so they are kept away from each other. All of my dogs are far enough apart so they can't tangle yet close enough so they can play.

@PeaceLoveSledDogs so are you saying it is natural for your dogs to live on a chain..SAD..and what do you mean by they choose to be outside, but yet at the same time you say they cannot be inside. Doesn't sound like a choice to me. I know Huskies that live inside and enjoy it. You might be satisfied and happy how your dogs live, but that doesn't mean they are. Why don't you have someone put you on a chain to live and find out for yourself how fun it really is.

You don't even know me nor my dogs nor have you ever seen my dogs and you say they are abused? I'm sorry but you are wrong. My dogs are healthier and friendlier and get more exercise than most pet dogs I know.

You know you could say the same thing about dogs being in a crate or in a house. Some dogs are abused in their own crate and in their own house so that must automatically make every dog kept in a crate or in the house abused right? Absolutely not.

It's like a life sentence for something they didn't even do but say 'Love me love me! i'm very sociable and good with kids but when I'm a chain 24/7 I become mean and aggresive and crazy so love me love!'

For all those who say that their dogs are happy living on a tie out or chained up. I challenge you to live like your dog does for a week and see how great and happy it really is. I know without a doubt that I would LOVE to live the life of my dog!! How about you??

Awesome video Cindy. My dog is NEVER outside alone. She is where I am and where the family is. It is amazing all the excuses people make up to feel good about leaving their dog on a chain. Actually it makes me sick and it is Very sad...that is why I'd rather spend my time with my dog then most people.

don't unchain dogs if they are dangerous! There is a rottweiller in our next door garden, she is unchained, and she jumped into our garden, and she nearly killed our old husky! Now i have a beagle, he is unchained, of course, but our neaighbours chained that dangerous dog, thanks for god! so i'm nor worrying about my little dog!

My dog lived on a 20 foot chain becuz he culd not come inside. he was a runner b4 and was lost 4 weeks sumtims. dogs on my st wandered al they wntd, but then 1 was injured, another diseased, anuther nevr found. i was so scared i had to chain him. it was not safe for him 2 go into the far woods as the others had. he always had food water and socialization w/ others. once we moved he had no room, only to pace like the dogs in the video. it broke my heart. he is now with a good family with room&tlc

High drive working K9s are different than lap dogs and the average person without experience in these type dogs can't grasp what they are capable of. A high drive K9 with a serious working bloodline will destroy a cheap kennel or crate in one day and could hurt themselves in the process. I do not short chain but I have used a trolley system before with good results. It would be healthier for your pet to chain them than leave them cooped up in a crate all day in the house while your away.

My dog has been on a proper chain setup for almost 5 years. I took him to the grooomer the other day and they told me I had the best dog that has ever came in there. My daughter play with him everyday.

Great video Cindy, as usual, I am fighting with my neighbors who chain their dogs in heat and cold, little did they know an animal right activist would move in next door, I have my "Dogs deserve Better" sign and facing their house and many more, in the video is asks the question "Is your dog chained" as usual Emily is asleep in the bed with her had on a pillow I hope she knows I resuced here from HSUS and how lucky she is to be adored!

Another great message Cindy,I'm not a dog owner and never even considered this, although being a regular walker (hiker) I often pass Farms with chained dogs and fear for my life should one ever get off the chain, they are always sooo aggressive. I just assumed they were chained because they were likely to maul any passer by if they were roaming free and possibily more importantly a deliberate act by the land owner to deter people using the pathways.Either way it is wrong and cruel

Keeping a dog chained all the time causes the dog to be aggressive. Dogs are very social animals. They are supposed to live in a pack.  When they are denied interaction with the world around them, some become aggressive, some don't.

Chaining dogs should be illegal. In some cases (not all) chained dogs become very aggressive. This can be very dangerous for any humans nearby.

It's an incredibly cruel and selfish act for a human being to keep their dog chained up all the time. A chained dog cannot protect property. They can't even protect themselves. Chained dogs cannot protect themselves from other animals, harsh weather and most of all... loneliness.

Excellent video. Chaining is brutal and disgusting, and in many places is now illegal. Wherever you live, if you see this happening, check your local laws, because you may be able to save a dog from a miserable life. Even if it's not illegal where you live, there may be rescue groups who will be able to retrieve a dog from this kind of supid treatment.

I would say, unchain the dog, and KEEP THE DOG IN THE HOUSE, and WALK IT ON A LEASH (and not one of those awful retractable things that goes for 10 blocks and gives no protection or control over the pet!) -- as a family member! Excellent Video. Until I started reserching the pit bull and BSL issues, I was unaware that chaining dogs up is one of the main causes of agression and attacks by dogs. Thanks for helping to bring more awareness to this issue. Now, what about the people who keep their dogs crated all day? That pretty pathetic as well.
