Hi Tom, thanks for making this video and sharing some amazing value, we will be trying out some of the techniques, it shows us that it really is possible to make a good scripted video with a flip cam and still be looking into the camera. Excellent! Many thanks, Andy & Heidi
@SixFigureMentorsLive Hi Andy & Heidi, glad you enjoyed the video! This stuff took me quite some time to work out and I'm glad I can help you with it. Keep the comments coming as it's great to connect with you here!
I do something called a "Sync Clap" which is where at the beginning of the video I will clap loudly and then on the video I can see myself do this and on audio it will be heard. When it comes to editing, I look for the part of the audio with the spike near the beginning of the video and align this with me clapping. This is easy to achieve in iMovie or Camtasia and I am told it's easy in MovieMaker too.
@TVSteveHarris Thx Tom, all New to me... appreciate you sharing that information, it sounds pretty 'techy' though... Be great if you could do a demonstration sometime. Your stuff get's better and better pleased to be connected.
@ronareu44 Hi Ron, I am completely on the same page as you. The number one thing to think about it audio. Nobody will watch a movie with poor audio - it's just too frustrating, but if the visuals aren't great, we don't mind! Strange I know, but audio is the most important part of a video, then lighting and then camera.
For this video I used a very cheap lapel mic from Rymans in fact (don't tell anyone) as it's just quick and easy. My other videos I often will use a battery powered one from...
@ronareu44 Sennheiser. It's quite old and doesn't have the model number on it, but if you go to Amazon, you'll see a huge range. Don't spend too much as you'll notice that the quality is excellent and online video only needs to be so good, not TV quality. Some sets can fetch some £2000, so spend £20 and see how you get on! My mistake was firstly buying a whole set that didn't work with my mac - luckily I was able to change but just check this for yourself too!
Thanks so much for sharing such great tips!
