My dad is the sales manager for a Massey dealer. @Darrenvikes1 he has sold millions of those exact setups. lol. @sokodad The new Massey's coming out for next year will cut a 16 MPH. Unbeleivable.
Years ago when I used to cut hay on the farm with an old JD 800 swather we were lucky to move 5 mph. Amazes me that you can do 14 mph these days. Cuts your field time tremendously. I'm sure the 800 JD dates me.
No, that would not be possible. At least not in this climate (my area). We have a hard enough time getting single swath, double conditioned, wide-spread swaths to dry in time before the rain or swath rot. For dry hay we have to rake.
Perhaps it would be possible in some places, ie Arizona? Idaho? Etc.
It's got enough power to cut through about anything, but power is the limiting factor for speed. Put the lever to 14mph and it'll do whatever it can, which is usually only 11-12 in heavy crops. Might be better without the merger, I'm sure that sucks power.
@dairyfarmer83: Thanks! I haven't seen another one other than mine, but from what I've been told by plastic companies there's a few around. Couple here in Alberta, some in NY State... works good. Simple. Bags ~70 bales an hour.
try going that fast with 6 feet high oats we grow here in California.

Hey we have the exact setup as you, same disc bine same GPS the only thing we don't have is the merger...is there any way we could get ahold of you.

sounds like that swather is a little light on for horse power

@jbomb3000: Unfortunately, you're absolutely right.

@JoshJJA Mergers do take a lot from a machine.

Good to be seeing some new stuff from you. How many cattle are you feeding? Never seen an ag bag for bales like that before.
