So when I refer to the "line of time" in this vlog I'm referring to a direction, and when you combine that with the opposite direction (anti-time) you then you do get a dimension. Likewise you could you can think about "forward" or "left", but it's forward/backward or left/right that combine to actually make a dimension. But here's the kicker: words like "forward" or "time" can be directions in any dimension.

What i don't get is how if a dimension has no height at all, then how can you even stack things on top of eachother? how could you even see "cross sections" with a 3D object passing through the 2nd dimension if you have absolutely no height? because in the 3rd dimension it's impossible for an object to have absolutely no height, so in other words there can only be 3 dimensional objects in a 3D world. We can imagine the same for the 2D world, but then how could they see cross sections at all?

well in my theory, there is inifinite number of dimensions and each decision and action splits the universe, i.e. i decide to stay home and avoid whatever i'd do had i went out, that option would be a dimension. i decide to watch this vid instead of going to bed and i've created an entirely alternate universe for my own, in which there'll be people who'Ll get to read this. in fact we are hopping between dimensions all the time.

Why, when we look out as far as we can in opposite directions in space (about 45 billion light years either way) do we see basically the same thing? Even if we are able to detect the radiation coming from one direction how could the other direction recieve the same information in the same amount of time? Also is it fair to describe the extent of our vision an "event horizon" like a black hole? No matter what we do we can never see what has passed beyond this horizon.

I would say thinking about the first through third dimensions is relevant. With our 3D universe, you might argue that all you need is a potentially infinite number of 2D planes to create it. Or a potentially infinite number of 1D lines could create our 3D universe as well! Same with the 4th through 6th dimensions, if you follow my line of reasoning here.
@balzonurchin That's the problem. the 5th dimension doesn't contain all possibilities, it is the plane of probabilistic outcomes which branch from any given now. It is essentially limited to probabilities, based on what has already happened. The 6th dimension would be the space which contains multiple 5D realities which are related to our own big bang, like different life experiences. It is the 9th and 10th dimensions which contain all possibilities and all potential expressions of matter.

i agree. In my current state of existance I cannot walk through a brick wall; there is more when it come to the question of man's place in these said demensions. I am the embodiment of hydrgen, oxygen and carbon, therefore I am the master(symbiote) and I can effect their outcome. I am the brain, so to speak. Man DOES have control of all possiblities, whether he can see them now or not. But we do have to acknowledge the laws that this demension govens. Not in this form, but perhaps another?
I feel the need to disagee a bit. I have to argue that if human beings exist in all dementions therefore they have some form of control of the outcome of said demensions. We are the eyes of the universe: without us, the universe cannot understand itself; therefore there cannot be a finite set of possiblities. We are the eyes of the possibilities; creating them as well as living them.
Absolutely! The point here is not that we don't have a lot of control, and much more control than the limited 4D perspective seems to imply for people with a hard determinist perspective, but that we should be careful not to oversell what's possible. Just because there's a bush-like branching structure of possible futures doesn't mean I can walk through a brick wall with the strength of my will and determination.
I think we have more control than we actually can accept, one thing that comes into my mind is the experiment that was done with the electrons being shot in a vacuum, and depending on being observed the electrons went in a specific direction ... that says a lot ... if you can manipulate reality on a small subatomic scale everything is yours, people don't understand that in order to control something you need to control its smallest most basic parts ...
I had thoughts on this since 6th grade (the we all observe our own version of the wavefunction part) I'm in 10th grade, and have taken no physics classes. (though I plan to.) The best way I can think of to explain my thoughts is through an example: I say something to you, but that doesn't mean that you hear it the same way. How I percieve my words and how you do could be as far apart as different languages. I probably should flesh it out more, but can't think of how....
I've been recommending a book by Rosenblum and Kuttner, two serious quantum physicists, called "Quantum Enigma". It frames the mysteries of consciousness and how it participates in the creation of our observed world quite nicely, and without getting overly technical.
I also talk in some of these vlogs about the "observer-region" or "o-region" - the idea that each of us is really in our own version of the universe, as you describe, is indeed one of the amazing conclusions that can be drawn.

Why, when we look out as far as we can in opposite directions in space (about 45 billion light years either way) do we see basically the same thing? Even if we are able to detect the radiation coming from one direction how could the other direction recieve the same information in the same amount of time? Also is it fair to describe the extent of our vision an "event horizon" like a black hole? No matter what we do we can never see what has passed beyond this horizon.

If the 5th dimension includes all possibilities, then how is the 6th dimension any different than the 5th other than providing a means of jumping from one reality (or branch in the 5th dimension, if you will) to another? Why can't we consider the 5th dimension as "our universe in all possible states" like you describe the 6th to be?

I would say thinking about the first through third dimensions is relevant. With our 3D universe, you might argue that all you need is a potentially infinite number of 2D planes to create it. Or a potentially infinite number of 1D lines could create our 3D universe as well! Same with the 4th through 6th dimensions, if you follow my line of reasoning here.

@balzonurchin That's the problem. the 5th dimension doesn't contain all possibilities, it is the plane of probabilistic outcomes which branch from any given now. It is essentially limited to probabilities, based on what has already happened. The 6th dimension would be the space which contains multiple 5D realities which are related to our own big bang, like different life experiences. It is the 9th and 10th dimensions which contain all possibilities and all potential expressions of matter.

You may not be able to get there from here, but perhaps you can get there from there2, and from here you can get to there2. You just have to stick it out in the fourth dimension, or keep focus on that point in the 5th deminsion you desire. Though by the nature of it, desire will not get you anywhere, for it is the acceptance that here is not already there. By will alone, will one get to there2 from here, and again from there2 to there(1).

@cml89 Our physical 3D bodies will never be able to get "there" from here. But the mind isn't as limited. One possibility is that we go up into our "higher dimensional selves" while in deep sleep, near death, or in an altered state induced by psychedelic drugs. A second possibility is that after we shed our physical bodies (at death) we will no longer be limited to three dimensions. You will no longer be confined to an ego fixed in the 3rd dimension. Every quantum observer becomes available.

Xobrentox - because of the level of probability. As he says - even if it can't be 100% proven impossible, the probability of such can reach the point where it may as well be. If the probability of somoen falling off Earth was 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000 - then chances are that not a single person in our lifetime will ever have that happen. You have the possibility of being in a car crash every day - but you aren't in one every day, are you? Probability my friend, is the key.

i agree. In my current state of existance I cannot walk through a brick wall; there is more when it come to the question of man's place in these said demensions. I am the embodiment of hydrgen, oxygen and carbon, therefore I am the master(symbiote) and I can effect their outcome. I am the brain, so to speak. Man DOES have control of all possiblities, whether he can see them now or not. But we do have to acknowledge the laws that this demension govens. Not in this form, but perhaps another?

I feel the need to disagee a bit. I have to argue that if human beings exist in all dementions therefore they have some form of control of the outcome of said demensions. We are the eyes of the universe: without us, the universe cannot understand itself; therefore there cannot be a finite set of possiblities. We are the eyes of the possibilities; creating them as well as living them.

Absolutely! The point here is not that we don't have a lot of control, and much more control than the limited 4D perspective seems to imply for people with a hard determinist perspective, but that we should be careful not to oversell what's possible. Just because there's a bush-like branching structure of possible futures doesn't mean I can walk through a brick wall with the strength of my will and determination.

I think we have more control than we actually can accept, one thing that comes into my mind is the experiment that was done with the electrons being shot in a vacuum, and depending on being observed the electrons went in a specific direction ... that says a lot ... if you can manipulate reality on a small subatomic scale everything is yours, people don't understand that in order to control something you need to control its smallest most basic parts ...

I had thoughts on this since 6th grade (the we all observe our own version of the wavefunction part) I'm in 10th grade, and have taken no physics classes. (though I plan to.) The best way I can think of to explain my thoughts is through an example: I say something to you, but that doesn't mean that you hear it the same way. How I percieve my words and how you do could be as far apart as different languages. I probably should flesh it out more, but can't think of how....

I've been recommending a book by Rosenblum and Kuttner, two serious quantum physicists, called "Quantum Enigma". It frames the mysteries of consciousness and how it participates in the creation of our observed world quite nicely, and without getting overly technical.
I also talk in some of these vlogs about the "observer-region" or "o-region" - the idea that each of us is really in our own version of the universe, as you describe, is indeed one of the amazing conclusions that can be drawn.

Yes, I've been talking about improbable events a lot with this project - other vlogs that touch on this are "Unlikely Events and Timelessness" and "Randomness and the Missing 96 percent". And my new vlog "Dreaming of Electric Sheep" also talks about tossing a coin 100 times and relates that to symmetry breaking, which is a concept often used to describe where our universe comes from - our reality is a temporary deviation away from the underlying enfolded symmetry.
