I have one exactly like this except with a much nicer finish, despite that a lot of it is peeling off. I use it on a folding keyboard X-shaped stand and keep it in my music classroom where my students can enjoy it. I'm feeling inspired to make a video playing it. I inherited it from the estate of a gay friend of the family (who had no family of his own) and I will never let anything happen to my celesta.
It's in the grass because these seems to be so unhurried people (just look at the house) and many of us agree with the fact that grass is good, isn't it?
It would be worse if it was sitting in the sand of a beach for instance...
You're good, just when you play a note, try to find the equivalent key. When you play the celesta, its almost three keys at once to make this crisp sound.
@phmfthacim Although you may not be able to eat money an instrument like that isn't produced very much, grass is made out of mostly water which can seep into the wood which can ultimately ruin an instrument.
Well I finally saw my dad's celeste ! I still have it, but it has to be restored fully. On the video you don't see the rotating valves in the pipes, which gave a sort of vibrato.I'm planning to restore this instrument myself and...I live in Holland !
The rotating valves would indicate that you have a vibraphone, not a celeste. Jenco made both, and they each have tone bars and a similar sound. The vibes are played with mallots. Good markets for either one!!!

Even in that condition, that's a $3,000.00 instrument. Why is it sitting in the grass? GET A TABLE! PLEASE!

@Elodea
Calm down. You are an overly self impressed hysteric.
jpstenino 1 year ago
@Elodea Why does it matter that it's $3,000? The grass is softer and safer than any table anyway! Can you eat money?
