  • NewFOUNDland... is the smaller island bellow the large province they called NewFOUNDland .... what they actually labelled was Labrador.... o - o ... js

And yes, as another Newfie commenting on this video, it IS pronounced new- FOUND- land ... the found is pronounced more dominantly then the word land.

And to those calling it new-fin-land, where do you see "fin" in this? -->Newfoundland

  • I love my Newfie -3 -3 -3

  • I have a aussie newfoundland he was great dog for me and my older brothers and is a great dog for my brothers kids :) great familey dog! He lays there while my nieces gives him a makeover lol. These are really great dogs :)

  • getting a newfie to play with my wolf hybrid, hes saved me one night when i was walking (we live out in the country, so i dont use his lead) anyway i was walking and a loose hunting dog charged me, bit me once and then all of the sudden i heard my wolf growl, then he snapped the hunting dogs neck in one bite/twist..

  • i have a rottwieller mix newfoundland its so cool before i got him i thought they could never mix

  • Dear Santa ...

  • Excuse me, What's a NewFINland dog? It's NewFOUNDland :|

  • @bababa425 common mistake from thos not from the rock

  • @bababa425 pronunciation....

  • @bababa425 it's not pronounced new-found-land, neither is the island in canada. They're both pronounced new-fin-land

  • @bababa425 It is pronounced NewFINland.

  • @InvalidBullet I am from NewFOUNDland.

  • I'm not exactly sure what my dogs breed is,his mother was a Labrador and his father was a Newfoundland but oddly enought he looks like a Tibetan mastiff!!

  • so there lazy and they will die trying to save you

  • i saw a newf walking down the street and it was so big and sweet! i luv newfies!

  • i love love love newfoundlands!... i dont care how u pronounce it!... i will still love it forever and ever and ever... and ever!

  • when I was a child, we had a newfie crossed with a labrador. I loved that dog so much, and he had the babysitter qualities of a newfoundland, and the calm and loving personality of a newfoundland. when I get children I want a dog like this again, because I remeber how gentle and loving it can be.

  • ohh being a newfoundlander it makes me laugh at the way mainlanders pronounce Newfoundland...say it with me New-FOUND-land... not newfindin..............

  • I really love newfies, I've loved them for almost 6 years of my soon 16 years life... Ive admired hughe dogs (I got a small dog, and I don't really like him, but ofc I LOVE HIM!) and always wanted one.. So I've decided that when I move out and got a job, I'll buy one. No doubt. Only sad thing is that my mom hates big dogs and says "they're just drooling and got joinproblems". Well, I love the drooling, and all big dogs got jointprobs... I love big dogs, I'll get one at each cost!!

  • Love my newfies!!!!! Best dogs in the world:)!

  • I love any animal that could be discribed as a "Gentle Giant" and Newfies definetly fit the bill.

  • Any newfie I have ever met was nothing short of the biggest sweetheart ever. What gentle giants, I hope to one day have one sleeping on my bed with me ^_^

  • When I I'm an adult I'm going to get one of these dogs. My small cousins have on of these and he watches them when no one is home

  • this or a st. bernard for sure when i get the room

  • That's my dream dog if I ever had the room~!

  • awesome dogs!

  • My cousin and his family have new foundland, labrador mix, and I got to say that a newfie coat and a labradors energy is not a good combination. Also his name is Grizzly.

  • side note the map shows newfoundland as being labrador. and it is not pronounced as many people say. i am from newfoundland. love those dogs<3

  • My Olde English bulldog Baxter retrieves baton or floats from the ocean. He's not afraid just not made for swimming even though he can a little. I can't find a life jacket that fits him:(

  • when it said best whith

children it lied i have one it just lies lazy

    and it died

  • @cpadowitz what??

  • The lady at the beginning looks like Angelica Houston from The Witches.

  • @magoocat Actually labradors are smaller and thinner version of the Newfoundland

  • @AztecQueen321 Actually, Labrador is the name of the sea off the shore of Newfoundland

  • Wasn't Nana from Peter Pan supposed to be a saint bernard?

  • newfoundlands sometimes look like black labradors

  • They seem like such great dogs! I'm not planning to get another dog for 3-5 years since I already have one, but I've been looking up different breeds now so I have PLENTY of though put into my next one (rushed into my first one) and I have to say that the Newfoundland is one of my favourites so far.

  • @langelslshadowl get a great pyrenees

  • I had a Newfy... her name was Cricket. Sweetest thing in the world and didn't drool shockingly. But she was actually terrified of swimming, the poor dear. She lived to be almost 11 years old.

  • quite funny,my aunt had 2 newfoundlanders, the male one loved the water, but the female hated it , just a splash scared her away

  • Mine is 6 :) she is much smaller then our last one she is about 117lb... or last girl was 178lb :D

  • Can you tell me how long they live?

  • @isidora121minime My breeder has a 10 year life guarantee on his line (if the dog passes before 10 years he replaces the dog with a free puppy). If you take care of your lad or lass, you should be able to get 10-13 years. Hope this helps.

  • @mammothnewf who's your breeder out of curiosity

  • Too long, these wee bastards could break the legs of your average size native european dogs like beagles, springers, labradors as they like to pounce on them from behind.

  • The area labeled Newfoundland is actually Labrador.Newfoundland is the island to the right. Also, Newfoundland is pronounced New-found-LAND. Get it right.

  • @CitrusFruit Thankyou sooo much for clarifying that ,now I know the proper pronounciation. I hope to be in Vancouver next year

  • i hadn't given my newfoundland any training in the water. My first lesson i was at the beach and a wave took me way out and it was such a strong wave it knocked me out my dog Ellie saw me bobbing up and down in the water and ran in and saved me if it wasn't for Ellie i woud not be here today and I'm 15 years old this was 20 weeks ago! thank you Ellie love you x

  • @Daniele40711 yeah, soo many similar stories like yours :)

  • @Daniele40711 What an awesome story about instincts your Ellie loves you with her soul.

    Take good care of her.

    :)

  • Our 5 year old newfie is a girl and she rarely ever drools. Someone once told me the girls tend to drool less than the boys, which from my limited experience seems to be the case as we know a family with a boy newfie who drools constantly.

  • can anyone with a newfie comment on how much they drool?

  • I heard they are the size of a miniture horse. And that if you live near a forest and love to hunt, this is the dog for you!

  • @flipsdance123 you so have the wrong dog for all of that.. cept the horse part.. and where ever you heard that from they must not have either a full bred newfoundland or must not have a newfoundland at all

  • Big....Bigger....and Jumbo! LOL love it!!

  • i have a newf.her father went to Winchester.

  • The pronouncation is killing meeee hahaha. Glad I'm not the only one who calls it NewfoundLAND

  • YOU LABELED NEWFOUNDLAND WRONG! THATS LABRADOR !!!!NEWFOUNDLAND IS THE ISLAND BYS !

  • big........bigger...... AND...... JUMBO!

  • do you know if they get along with other dogs??

  • @eMiLyHoUsE06 Yep, they're great with other dogs. They'll socialize as well as any, they'll ignore annoying yapper dogs, and they'll hold their own against aggressive dogs.

  • @eMiLyHoUsE06 I have a newfie and he was friendly to every dog he ever met . Even one caucasian ovcharka dog wanted to play with him while the owner said his ovcharka is normally aggresive toward other dogs .

  • Bernese with Kids are the best ever :-)

  • you americans pronounce newfoundland weirdly :/ its new found land.. not newfalund :/ :/

  • @RudiL94 actually man, you say it weird to, your prolly from ontarion or west? Its actually pronounced Newfinland

  • @moosemanca please no bad words

  • @UndercoverPegasus All due respect, go fuck yourself. This is the internet.

  • @BurgerJonesIsAlive i don't care if it's the internet it is still not right, i know i can't stop people from saying bad words but is in really nessasary? im just saying

  • @UndercoverPegasus just ignore him some people are simply rude and ignorant

  • @loveMschriscrocker talk about it... people have been saying wierd and stupid things followed by a cuss word... for no stink'n reason

  • they labeled newfoundland wrong on the map. It's actually the island to the right. They said it was labrador...

  • @AztecQueen321 yeah, they labled "Labrador" Newfoundland =/

And they also pronounced it wrong. (emphasis is supposed to be on the "Land", not the "Newfound"!)

  • @PumpkinRain Labrador is a part of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Up until 2001, the official name of both the island and mainland part of the province was just Newfoundland.

  • @Propagandhi900 What does that have to do with anything? This video was made in 2008. So it's still wrong. I don't know what point you were trying to make there.

  • @PumpkinRain Because someone could have looked on an old map, seen "Newfoundland" covering both the island and Labrador, and made a simple mistake...

  • @Propagandhi900 lol, well they're supposed to be professionals! I mean this is an informative tv show. They still derped pretty hard.

  • @AztecQueen321 u r wrong

  • @200meredith Oh really? Because it's not like my grandmother is from there and I've been there twice...

  • @AztecQueen321 newfoundland and labrador

  • @AztecQueen321 The province is called Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland for short. Yes, the mainland is called Labrador... but it's still Newfie territory... No need to nitpick, eh.

  • @wenenen That's like labeling a state wrong and saying "they're all part of the USA no need to nitpick" Yes there is, it's wrong. I have never heard Labrador referred to as Newfoundland. When I think of NFLD I think of the Island. And seeing as how my comment is the top one, most would seem to agree.

  • @AztecQueen321 the top two comments have at least 20 thumbs up. which means yours has less than 20. which means "most" isn't all that much :) I don't get pissy when Americans don't know where Alberta is, don't get pissy when non-Newfies don't call the mainland Labrador :|

  • @wenenen When I wrote that comment it was one of the top ones. My argument wasn't that the mainland wasn't called Labrador, it's that the island wasn't labeled as Newfoundland. And I'm not pissy, I'm just trying to make a point. It seems you're just a little late on when this conversation was happening :l

  • @AztecQueen321 labrador IS newfoundland

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH uhh no it's called Newfoundland AND Labrador. Newfoundland is the island, Labrador is on the mainland.

  • i am dog-sitting a Newfoundland so this was helpful (especially because is weighs the same amount as me.

  • @hiccup6100 o.o

  • omg im from newfoundland (still leavin here) and they are not saying newfoundland right its said just way it looks but most time its promounced newfinland

  • Why pay for a baby-sitter when you can have a Newfoundland lol! Just kidding xD

It is great though how great they are with kids :) I remember my nan's friend had one, he was adorable and his had his own towel with him at all times to wipe his slobbery chops lol!

  • we got a newfoundland dog that is awsome and sooo cute <3 watch the newest vid at @salema34 's channel to see him owling like an wolf

  • OMFG i hate when they say it like newfinlins its newfinland only eastern canadians can say it right.

  • I WANT!

  • actually Newfoundland and Labrador are one in the same. but it's true newfoundland is in the island = New-Found-Land

  • Come on Animal Planet....

You stuck the name of Newfoundland where LABRADOR belongs on the Canadian Map.

Way to go whoever planned out that one. Smart. So where then do you find Labrador?

Newfoundland is the ISLAND next to Labrador..the most easterly in Canada.

  • @kristinanorthcott LOLOMG, I noticed that too, although I think they're just generalizing where Newfoundland is. Like, I know that's where Labrador is, but when you write out "Newfoundland & Labrador", you usually write it on Labrador's location.

  • i have one and it's so like him

  • could you do more episodes? of the Visla, Pumi, Puli, Gereat pyermies and more?

  • @DanTheCaptain u mean Great Pyeramees

  • LOL! big, bigger and JUMBO!

  • i love love love love newfoundlands. it doesnt matter how u pronounce it... i'll still love it forever and ever and ever

  • They;re not called Newfies and they are NOT called Newfinlands, it is pronounced NewFOUNDland.

  • @MrRobertSama ur wrong, its pronounced newfin(land)

  • @SaltySangster I am not because not only have I owned the breed but I have spoken to people on this vary issue who live on Newfoundland, they and I despise the name Newfinland.

  • @MrRobertSama my moms is from there its not pronounced NEWFOUNDLAND OR NEWINLIND ITS NEWFIN-LAND haha, i have actually only heard a lady from the states say that, i swear to god. And people from out west.

  • @MrRobertSama actually i see you are from the UK, hmm so more like noofeunLAND

  • @SaltySangster Which shows your grasp of British accents and regional dialects, dont assume that we all speak the same way. No I would not pronounce it as noofeunLAND, I pronounce it as it is written.

  • @MrRobertSama trust me i know regional accents, i was not writing noofeunland for your accent, infact ignore that last comment. i live in the 2nd biggest country in the world, there are tons of different accents in my province of New Brunswick alone its crazy, french to irish, to maritimes, to anything, even 10 minutes down the road in gagetown they talk more like texans then anything. But maybe the newfies you are familiar with are from the north east part of newfoundland?

  • @MrRobertSama

I find it hilarious how some people think we all speak the same lol! There are many accents in the UK but they think there's one lol!

  • couldn't watch it. It drives me crazy that people won't take the time to learn how to correctly pronounce Newfoundland. The emphasis is on the LAND. Rhyme it with UNDERSTAND...understand New Fa Laaand.

  • @oobaka1967 Oh believe me i know, it makes me want to throttle people.

  • My Newfoundland hates water lol! The kindest and gentlest dog I've ever owned though.

  • lol when they show you where newfoundland is on a map, they're actually putting it over labrador. The province is called "newfoundland and labrador" but they're two separate areas!

  • 3 colors...black black black and black and white :P

  • @AstekOst You listed 4. :P

  • @MrRobertSama you're right xD

  • im from newfoundland and newfoundloand dogs are the best i have one and he is very well trained

  • 0:15 for hore looking girl

  • Waterdog

  • does this dog shed?

    prob a stupid question. haha

  • In 1:25 thats Labrador on Newfoundland

  • @Renny2hand It's a young (and very wet) newfie :) They seem to shrink half their size when wet.

  • i love my big fluff ball

  • they come in black "the most common" brown (looks black) grey (looks black) and white and black (has black)

  • @xzadious I'm from Newfoundland. Just say "understand Newfoundland" and that's the correct way to say the name of the province or the name of the dog.

  • so fucking fluffy

  • i have a half newf half lab who i absolutely adore.. shes the size of a small lab but just looks like a mini newf. and THEYRE SO DAMN FUZZY

  • @Audioscientist shed?

  • Does that mean that a Newfie can't live in Miami FL???? =[

  • gosh, dogs are so cool. there are SO many kinds and are a blast to learn about! they are probably the best pet, hands down. if you get the right breed, they will love you till the end of time and are SO MUCH FUN to play with! i will love them for ever!

  • HAHAHA, I love how the narrator is totally mispronouncing "Newfoundland" and then labels 'Labrador' as being "Newfoundland". Newfoundland is an island! ...but anyway, I'm hoping the information about the dog is correct! Looking for a friend for my year old golden. :)

  • @Mel599 how is he mispronouncing newfoundland? you must always be mispronouncing newfoundland then

  • Comment removed

  • @xzadious It's Newfound"LAND", not Newfound"LIND"!

  • @xzadious I'm afraid not! ...He's making the mistake that curtmang pointed out. There's no "lind" on the end of the name, it's "land." Living in Newfoundland would kinda help me with the pronunciation of it I would think! :)

  • @Mel599 Everyone had an accent and has a way of saying things differently. Maybe your the one saying it wrong. there is no wrong and right way. we all understand what hes saying :P

  • I have a landseer newfoundland, very pretty dog. Her name is Ember. I love her so much. :)

  • umm did any body else hear napoleon bonerpark?

  • Comment removed

  • The dog is from Canada

  • Wow, that sure is a lot of dog!

  • The narrator pronounces 'Newfoundland' wrong. And on the map, they put 'Newfoundland' on Labrador. That's not Newfoundland. Newfoundland is an island.
