It is true that there were three-hundred Spartans (Leonidas and his bodyguard). And that was after the main body of Greek troops retreated. However, the major victory was by the Athenian fleet. Reality is too boring, so Hollywood spiced things up.

I completely agree. The spartan army (as well for the athenians and acheians) were more of homosexuals than anything else. I just find it ironic in this film with the entire "glory" and "justice" schpeel. Its exactly what they were all about.

The name 300, of the movie, was given to the courage of Spartans who decided to fight for their land instead of giving up. Reality is still glorious, you're just a blind moron.
