  • Turbo is the way to go. I've got a 1uz soarer with a blower on it running 5psi. It was already on there when I got it but I'm pretty sure it's a m90. Dynoed 180rwkw. It's a daily for me and a great car to drive. One of the best motors Toyota has made and only now are we seeing v8s that look as good or better. I've also got a 1jz for track and hoping to build it up to 280rwkw. That's enough to do some damage. Toyota all the way!

  • Just to give you all an update on whats happening with this car. The motor is going from 4L - 4.6L, switching to race E85 fuel, 290 degree cams, cnc ported heads from 1uzparts.com and increasing the revs from a 7500rpm limiter to 8500prm.

  • u mean the intake manifolds? if they are, how much? lastly a silly question is that set-up using an intercooler? dieing to know!

    Have a problem with my prized 1uz-fe soarer stock, idle problem developed... when in "P" now it idles over 2000rpm for no reason, when in D or R revs drop to normal, when in N revs are too high, this happened after a short drive, car was warm... any help please contact me!! cheers in advance.

  • not sure why the nissan vs toyota comments.. c'mon dudes they are japanese turbo cars they woop everything lol they're all good. for outright drag power though the twin turbo toyota v8 is quicker than any rb26 nissan in ultimate drag form, there's just not enough cubic inches in the nissan motor. the hks v8 supra does 6's in the quarter.

  • what 1/4 miles you running? my best is 11.7 @127 mph with a manual transmission, and full weight (trim, cage, 80l fuel, jack, tools, and a laptop).

  • @bhamdriver Serious how did you come to the conclusion that RB's are a strong stock internal motor? that is the biggest myth i hve ever heard.. toyota motors are the most over engineered, strongest from factory motor you can buy.. take the 1uz (i have one in my nissan sil80) it has 6 bolt mains, and is good for just about any sort of forced induction application, NOS incl. so take ur RB n jam it.. they have a shit bottom end, and rb26 is the best of the RB's n they are still poo

  • @bhamdriver LOL dude, WTF r u talking about. ive had a RB26 which is now a 26/30 hybrid. the bottom ends on my stock rb26 let got at around 530hp. and i know others whov let go earlier. toyotas are much better than RBs, eather 1uzs or 1-2jzs. there are way more over engineered from factory. hmmm i can also smell BULLSHIT in ur post, u have a 1uz, then a rb25? why go to all the hassle then back again to a straight bolt in? stage 3 rb20 hybrid. WTF is that? a turbo?

  • @bhamdriver RB26 cannot handle 650hp without internal mods. Looks like you getting your engines mixed up as a 2JZ-GTE can. For a RB26 to get anywhere near those power figures, at the very least the oil pump MUST be changed. Early spool and min lag, isnt that the same thing and usually found on either small turbo's or a anti lag system.

So an engine that has less than 2/3 the displacement, meaning it makes less power on pump gas and has a narrower, less useful powerband, and weighs over 150lbs more is clearly better right? LOL. I'm sorry but I'd take the 1UZ any day, lighter weight and further back for better balance, and more usable power on the street. 1UZ>RB26.

  • @bhamdriver rb20det turbos have ceramic shafts that snap at around 14psi, even if u ran a steel shaft the housings arnt physically big enough to run 17.4psi (1.2bar) without the turbo being totally maxed out ur boost curve wud look like an upside down U. stop talking out ur ass.   • Haha! wow man 700cc injectors? and your building the engine? i cant wait to see the outcome lol, but yea dude i was thinking about getting 7mgte light green injectors which are 315cc and rated good upto 500hp, and im scared shit less about tunning lol i hate electronics, do you think the 315cc injectors will do the trick?, i meen im really just looking for a daily driver ( hopefully getting a 5speed ) this is gonna be my little v8 "supra" xD

  • hey there 315cc too small as standards are 240cc or 260cc. s4 or s5 rx7 injectors are nippon denso and are identical but larger! the s5 ones are 550cc. got em in my v8 and only reach 20 percent duty cycle where as the standards were maxed out

  • ohhh ok man, thanks but what does s4 and s5 mean? did you FI your v8? and did you get a notable diference in performance with just the injectors? or is it still nessecary to tune it?

  • s4 or s5 mazda rx7. the injectors fit strait in as the are the same brand. yes had to re tune the ecu. yes the engine revs out more as standard injectors max out at around 5500rpm. but these size injectors arnt really necessory unless your super or turbo'd

  • ohh if you want a cheaper but good ecu link plus is good and it will tune the fuel by itself with a 02 sensor fitted and just drive it! google linkecu they have a website

  • I'm in the process of putting a supercharger on my v8 1UZ 94' soarer, contemplated turbos, but didnt think there'd be room, my supercharger is going in the battery bay! This must have cost you a fortune.

  • cheers bud, yeah tuning is absolutely a must. we are running 700cc injectors with a stand-alone ecu and twin bosch 044's with a walbro in tank pump. A bit of overkill at the moment, but we are in the process of building the motor now

  • Should be on the dyno before the 22/12. will post vid asap when its done. Just getting the wiring tidied up, and getting the car roadworthy first: ie front bar on, bonnet on, lights working etc.. and new tyres - shouldn't have done that burnout before I dropped it of for the work :)
