@NanookDJ when you buy albums and stuff the artists only receive a small percentage from sale. most of it just goes to the record companies. if you REALLY wanted to support them you would pay to see them perform live, they get more money that way.

Knowing lots of labels from various scenes, I know that 75% of them are small cottage industries that don't make much money either, and spend a lot of time promoting artists for the love of it :-)
