This is a recession, the days of toilet paper are long gone, teach the kids how to spot and use dock leaves. Another few months and toilet paper will be legal tender, not to be wasted on small children, American dollars on the other hand.....wipe away!
RTE need to get their priorities straight. Toilet paper? GET OVER IT. There are families losing their homes and children who can't afford to buy school books. When will they get to share their stories?
This is the most disgusting youtube video I have watched today. Just one less money wasting corrupt waste of space minister would guarantee them a toilet roll budget for much more than a year. We should all hang our heads in shame and check our priorities.
IT WASN'T EVEN THIS BAD HEN i WAS IN SCHOOL IN THE 80'S, & IT WE WERE SURPRISINGLY DEPRIVED BACK THEN TOO. WE HELD CLASSES IN A HALL WALK WAY FOR A WHOLE YEAR. IT'S NOT THE RECESSION. IT'S JUST THAT WE STAND BY & LET THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE COUNTRY MAKE BAD DECISIONS EVERY DAY. TIME TO TAKE ACTION
Well if the teachers took a small pay cut then the kid's wouldn't have to do this. Irish teachers are one of the best paid in the Western world. That's where the problem is. The teachers need to show a little humility in these economically bad times.
Just one thing foloman... both my parents are teachers and have had huge pay cuts all ready... and when the next budget comes along they will be cut again. so it is not the teachers faults.
This is an absolute disgrace... How are we supposed to get out of this financial mess if we can't even invest enough to keep our primary schools (remembering that educational disadvantage and alienation often begins at primary level) heated, watered and supplied. Where was the Government's contingency plan for vital areas such as education during the boom? Where have our reserves gone? Why is the unheated pre-fab I was educated in over 10 years ago still being used in my former primary school?
the only contingency plan this government has is to stay in government as long as possible while restoring the banking and building indusrty, they don't care about us honest workers
this is what children do in most under developed countries in the world no wonder when bankers are ruling the country and the white house, get ready for fire wood this xmass to heat up the classrooms "YES WE CAN" the world is going down the drain and it has started in cork

By the way RTE, I also think it is a disgrace that you are so spineless that you would actually screen comments before they are posted here.
