Thank you for doing what you do. I am one of the secret atheists you speak of living in the southeastern United States. The atmosphere at work is highly religiously charged and I know if my boss knew about my atheist views, she would definately treat me differently. She once told me she only votes for politicians who she believes holds the same religious beliefs and she does not consider anything else.

The New Atheists are aggressive, perhaps to much so, but they never try and shove their beliefs down anyone's throats. If they did these things using atheism as a justification, than criterion it.
Promoting your beliefs and pushing them are different, pushing them involves physical force such as the use of the state, which religious people promote, not writing a book. And just to get this out of the way because I know you will counter with it, evolution is not a pseudo-science, while it is only a theory, its the best one we have and strongly supported by evidence, and evolution does not endorse atheism or religion, it is compatible with either.

Personally I can care less about In God We Trust being written on money, although it wasn't added until the 50's and I'm glad the US acted in accordance with the Constitution and didn't endorse a religious position. If one is a God-disbeliever, then he is forced to concoct how non-living matter/chemicals must have come alive at some point and why organic compounds didn't depcompose in the presence of O2. O2 is required for ozone in the upper atmosphere indicating these things, ozone and life, originated simultaneously.

Are you actually suggesting that breath is some supernatural life force that leaves the body when it dies? Breath leaving the body doesn't cause death, its the other way around, when one dies they stop breathing, and if you can't breath, you die. Breath is an ancient symbol of life because living people breath, it comes from a basic empirical observation, the fact that its Genesis doesn't make it true, rather it just means that the Israelites were familiar with breath

The "spark" of life is the breath of God. It is what animates creatures. It's the life force ... one that no one can duplicate, or death would not be such a stark reality.

You mentioned the "preponderance of evidence" regarding evolution ... that's if a person has already rejected that God "is" and must come up with an alternate explanation for the uniqueness of all things we can observe around us.

Secondly, there is no evidence for creation, its speculation and god of the gaps fallacy: I don't know how we got here so god did it. Your using the classic God of the Gaps fallacy. You assume that if evolution is false, (which given our evidence it is not) than Biblical creation must be true. Even if evolution were disproven, you would still have to find and identify the Garden of Eden and the bodies of Adam and Eve, and even if you did that, you would than have to prove that they were created from dust by God. So how is Genesis 2:7 the best explanation for how we got here if there is NO evidence for it?

I wonder how the Abrahamic religions got it so wrong, especially since most of their original texts were consistent with the other texts of wisdom. If one reads the Gospel of Thomas and looks at recent developments in quantum physics/geometry and then has a look at the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the numerous consistencies are striking. The atmosphere at work is highly religiously charged and I know if my boss knew about my atheist views, she would definately treat me differently. Action plan: Embrace the new evidence and incorporate it into their irrational belief system with even more ludicrous claims. What aspects? Microevolution is a scientific fact acknowledged by creationists. If micro-evolution is possible, there is no reason speciation can't be. The origin of life is not evolution, evolution is how lifeforms change over time, the origin of life is abiogenesis, that's something different. Unlike evolution, abiogenesis is more theoretical and less demonstrable, but there is evidence for it, such as the synthesis of RNA ingredients from amino acids in a laboratory.

Genesis 2:7 describes how man was made. God breathed into Adam's nostrils the "breath of life" and he became alive ... which is why when the breath goes out of a living creature, that creature is dead. There is no duplication for it ... which is why there are many cemeteries around the world filled with dead people. The explanation is found in Ecclessiastes 3:19-20, Ps 104:29. Also, how the worlds were made: Psalm 33:6, 9.

Your using the classic God of the Gaps fallacy. You assume that if evolution is false, (which given our evidence it is not) than Biblical creation must be true. Even if evolution were disproven, you would still have to find and identify the Garden of Eden and the bodies of Adam and Eve, and even if you did that, you would than have to prove that they were created from dust by God. @Str8Talker365 There is nothing irrational about evolution, the big bang, or any other scientific theory you can name for why we exist without needing the guiding hand of a god. Scientific theories are, by definition, rational works of logic corroborated by observed evidence. There is no point in trying to convince you though, nor is there any point in trying to convince me. Unless you can convince yourself that the existence of God is an absurdity, I nor anybody else can ever hope to sway you.

Here's what I really don't get, and evidently neither does Condell. Let's say he picks up a book on chemistry. He has no basic skills, yet he writes his own book of ridicule against the chemistry book, claiming that anyone who trusts the chemistry book is ignoramus rex. Then a true chemist exposes Condell as the true ignoramus. Does Pat C really expect me to believe Matthew Poole's "headful of scripcha" is useless for understanding? Since Condell habitually and malevolently mangles Scripture and has thus proven himself untrustworthy regarding it, we move past him and on to the more capable and trustworthy such as those I offer. So yes, the breadth of learning of a Puritan far exceeds Condell's pea-brained, emotional-driven drivel.

Scripture says that he does, so strike one. Then he opines that scripture is worthless. 2Tim 3:16 and Hebrews 4:12. Strike 2. Then, once again, as tho absolutely authoritative himself, he says "What's been 'revealed' hasn't been...at all." 2Pet 1:20,21 = Strike 3. He's out (in 1:25) but he just blathers on and on and on and on and on

In fact, the first 5 books of the bible (starting with Genesis) were proven by Israeli archeologists to be made up. And these guys were sent by their own government to prove otherwise! @zixerqwert I am a deist. Pat Condell's lectures have not targeted deism once, so I can look at his lectures with perfect clarity and a neutral and unbiased mind. And I have yet to hear him say one thing along the vein of "Be an atheist".
He is preaching against hypocrisy, authoritarianism and everything else that's wrong with Christianity, Islam, Scientology and any other organized religion or cult that preys on people and feeds on their fears. Perhaps this is why YOU feel targeted, eh?

No, we fear the Bible because it dumbs down all of society by providing answers to questions it knows absolutely nothing about, and creates millions of blind followers who don't even consider questioning what they're told, because it's fed into their brains from birth.
...and if man is not fit to validate the Bible, who are you to say any of it is true in the first place? The only way you need to prepare for death is to be ready to rot in the ground like the rest of us : D

I wonder how the Abrahamic religions got it so wrong, especially since most of their original texts were consistent with the other texts of wisdom. If one reads the Gospel of Thomas and looks at recent developments in quantum physics/geometry and then has a look at the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the numerous consistencies are striking. I no longer rail against religion because it's essentially just the flip-side of their approach. I simply disregard it as being irrelevant to my existence.
