People (left wingers, usually) are just slaves to media ideas. In reality, people don't actually realise the media a minority, representing their own agenda, whilst suggesting its a majority's opinion.
Fat cats pay more than their fair share. Get a clue. Whining "they have more money than most, they most not be paying tax". In reality, you should just shout "I can't stand seeing people with more money than me, let's insult them".
Tax Avoidance is stealing government money and therefore the fatcats are thieves and criminals and should go to jail. The righties can try to justify it as much as they want because they only care about money, but the fact is the tax they avoid is Government money and it's called stealing. And all you righties can say it's leagal as much as you like but it's stealing and stealing is wrong.
I may not know much about money, but i know this: if it seems like the economy is getting better, then people would spend more and then the economy. But thats common sense, so no-one will listen. Place your bets on how long it will be before the Tories make protests, unions and the like illegal! Current bet is late this summer!
@Gearheadmk2 That's right, the government are right to cut the spending in areas that doesn't create growth & spend it where the spending can stimulate the economy.
It's a fine line but I think we can get out of the mess caused by the incompetent Brown and his Labour government
EU membership 48 million a day..Trident useless out of date and will never be used 110 billion banks owe 100 billion where is the deficit? not withstanding of course the fraudulent avoidance of tax by the larger corporations who fund the conservatives. We are not all in this together it is a paper debt with which to brow beat the little people into becoming even more dependant on the crumbs from the tables of the political elite..They are all lying cheating bastards and we need to take them out
47% of the public are against the cuts, 40% for, and 13% dont have an opinion. And it's not about how much they are cutting, but where they are cutting. And in fact those economists voicing concern are the very same who originally back the cuts.
@mattus701 That's correct, the cuts must be to area where the spending does very little except massage employment figures. The government must continue it's infrastructure program such as extending the Motorway along the A1(m), M1 upgrade etc but it's right to cut the wasteful spending of local govt on irrelevant services.
You have to remember, Labour created a phoney boom which wasn't sustainable, can't do that again.
@mrwho995 I'd hardly call my initial statement a diatribe - more like a declaration of frustration than a lengthy rant. But really, is any continuation of this acrimonious conversation necessary?
@ScourgeOfGodUK Nice to see the classic assumption of the right, that those at the top of the class system should remain in control over those below them
@mattus701 Did you deliberately ignore my comment about assumptions? Good to see that the Left are keeping their reputation for disregarding the views of others.
@mattus701 By 'people' do you mean a vocal minority who complain about cuts to public spending even when it's obvious we have to reduce the budget deficit? The 'people' who don't seem to realise that if spending isn't reduced now then we'll just have far harsher spending cuts imposed on us a few years down the line?
@ScourgeOfGodUK I think you'll find public opinion is against the cuts, aswell as the experts (e.g. economical experts) all saying we don't need these cuts. And not only the people are being ignored, but also the facts, the deficit has risen since the budget cuts have been imposed, not forgetting the fact that the conservatives iherited a growing economy, which has since stopped growing, and inflation has risen.
@mattus701 If that's what you honestly believe then the propaganda Labour are spinning out is economically illiterate (no surprise there, I guess). Firstly, everyone who voted for the 3 main parties were voting for cuts, Labour wanted to reduce the deficit by 61% over 5 years, the Tories are now reducing it by 74%. Hardly a dramatic difference. The vast majority of economics (including huge bodies like the IMF and OECD) agree with the government, only a vocal handful of left-wing academics...
@mattus701 ...have aired different opinions. The cuts have only properly begun at the start of this financial year, so to blame the earlier sluggish economic growth on the cuts makes no sense whatsoever (a more accurate cause is a lack of tax cuts and poor figures from the US and China). The Conservatives inherited a 'bouncing' economy - if the state pumps in as much money as Labour did then no wonder, thing is all that stimulus has to be paid for, hence the need to cut spending now.
@mattus701 The majority of people are against pub sector cuts because sadly, we have more people in pub sec jobs that real jobs. An economy can't be sustained on that basis.
The deficit has risen since the cuts because the over-spending has had to be financed so we're borrowing just to pay the interest at the moment.
Snouts in the trough very funny but true. Tax Avoidance by the greedy fat cats is costing us far more than benefit scroungers infact tax avoiders are no more than scroungers themselves. So it's the fat cats liar Osbourne should be targeting not the ordinary people
Does any one remember those 13 British colonies in North America in the 1700s? Bloody good idea they had.........revolution I think it was called!
