@rxstr8 not at all, we re in 2010, engines are already pushed in the factory before delivery, just you need to prepare the brakes and tyres for 300 mi..that s it.
@guilldubai try 2000 miles using only 4000 rpm's, did that with my car and it's as sweet as a nut.. not a drop of oil etc..changed the oil at 3,000 miles and now I'm running it out for maximum performance after 10,000 miles
@guilldubai If you read the Porsche owner's manual it actually says you must never exceed 4,200 rpm's until you reach 2000 miles. Engines are pushed to high rpm's in the factory to point out obvious defects and not so obvious ones, however, the engine is still not prepared to sustain high rpm without risk. Oh and by the way we're almost in 2012, not 2010.
@skaught911, Porsche book is for new owners who don t know about porsche, just to prevent stupid buyers who will push the car max the first drives.. i had a 4s, turbo s gt2 etc.. All my cars are fine as long as you don t push before oil is at 90 deg celcius. This is the key. But you drive and think as you want man.

@skaught911 but when engines r rebuilt they r extensively tuned on a dyno at high rpm.. this is just from a fresh build.. why do factory built engines need 2000 miles before u do 4,200rpm to redline?
@AntDX316 It's not necessarily that they NEED to be broken in, however, if you do your engine will maintain it's performance level over a longer period of time. When the engine is built the internals fits almost perfectly, but not exactly. When you break in the engine you essentially "polish" the inside of the engine allowing for a snugger fit, resulting in better performance. People who give new cars hell from new with 0 miles won't see the same performance as the years pass.
@skaught911 so we can agree that custom built engines with forged or billet internals wont wear as these cheap engine material? doubt porsche is forged internals then?
@AntDX316 Well engines with forged internals will still wear just not as quickly relative to internals that are machined. Gathered from what I've read Porsche does use forged internals for most of their engine platforms, but the break in process is still necessary. If you imagine that there is a tiny bit of friction between the piston and the cylinder wall it creates a drag effect minutely slowing the piston which can result in vibration. When at high rpm this is extremely increased.
@AntDX316 So if you follow the break in procedure you will wear away any protrusions in the cylinder wall with little to no vibration due to low rpm. This lowers your risk of any damage occuring in the future when sustaining high rpm. Hope this helps.
@skaught911 that is just a rumour and not actually true.. ive been to porsche race days in qatar and all of the cars were pretty much brand new below 2000 miles... guess what? the test drivers pushed all of those cars to their absolute limit, no mercy..+ think of all the bugatti and koenigsegg owners that dont drive more than 2000 miles like ever... :P
@patrickkroell I'm not debating that you can push a car to the limits with 0 miles on it. It's just a fact that your engine has a lower risk of damage to the internals later in it's "life" after following the correct break in procedure. When traveling at 200 MPH the pistons are moving 300 times per second, any friction in the cylinder wall can lead to major problems and engine failure. The break in procedure wears down any imperfections in the cylinder wall at a low RPM.
@patrickkroell It depends on the car. Some performance cars come with a break-in oil that you have to change after 1k miles or so, then you go to the regular interval of 5-7k miles (synthetic). I know for a fact the ///M cars (BMW) do.
@rxstr8 I'm not going to get into the debate about breaking in the motor, but I do notice one thing: this car seems to already have 2,766 km (1,718 miles) on the odometer.
This could possibly do 0-60 in 2.6-2.8 seconds. Come to think of it; why would anyone buy a veyron anymore. The bugatti is now rendered piontless thanks to this. Well done porsche! And bugatti... U suk balls!!! Hahahahaha
@hamzah438 porsche always understates the performance of their cars in the official technical datas. a porsche will always go faster than said on official paper. i heard that one car tv-show tested the exelleration and ended up with 2.6 sec. for 0-60.
I prefer the old dashboard where you could see all of the gauges with all the information all the time. It is a tremendous car for those that can afford it. Enjoy.
When you live in a largely populated areas like new york long island,Chicago etc..you have stop lights boulevard cruising etc..so being quick from a dig is just as necessary as from a roll.so all you that live out in the sticks stop flappin about how from a roll a ze1 will win, because if you live in dense areas like 90% of Americans you encounter just as many dig races if not more.
And race from a roll and the Zr1 will walk. ZR1s regularly trap 130-133 in the QT. This is a 127-130 car. Big difference. No one races their 100K+ cars from a dig. It's all roll on the street so don't race a Zr1 and expect to win. Trap speed, 60-130, 0-186(0-300km/h) and standing mile tells the story about these cars. The Zr1 is faster than the 997.2 PDK turbo in all those tests and the Bugatti is light years ahead of either. 0-60/0-100 are useless tests these days.
@355SPIDER ye so true, but that zr1 got 117 hp more than this porsche :) .. imagine tuning the porsche to around 650 then compare them -> porsche kills everything
@355SPIDER the zr1 doesn't 'walk' on the 997TT. The S actually stays with it due to its ridiculous engine response (for a turbo I mean). The 'base' 2010 911 turbo (not the S) trapped 128 mph in the 1/4 as the ZR-1 did in Car and driver's test from April 2010.. The Turbo S as we all know is... Faster than the base Turbo (Duh!)
@Grifkylian shut your stupid white american mouth up,damn i hate you guys with a passion. this car shits on anything that junky corvette can ever dream of building from co5 to zr1. PORSCHE leads and ya'll follow!
@kay19833 dude do you know how to read english? did you NOT see my comment about how the ZR-1 does not 'walk' on this Turbo S? Before you get your granny-panties in a bunch, read and you will find out that I said the PORSCHE is a remarkable machine. So shut the hell up.
@kay19833 and also, one DOES have to wonder if YOU'VE been spanked by too many 'Vettes in your German car since you seem to hate them so much... A porsche is a porsche. With that comes a bigger price tag. I guess you're so narrow-minded that you only like German cars and think they're superior. I personally drive an '99 BMW M3. Do I think it's superior? NO. In today's world, my car is considered just 'average' in terms of straight line performance. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A FASTER CAR THAN YOU.
@Sal30 Just goes to show how good the Porche Turbo S is. You're comparing it to a Veyron. A car that costs 10 times more than the Turbo S. Question for Guillaume. How are you finding the Turbo S and is it as quick as you thought it would be? How are the running costs of the Turbo S? Would like to hear your views on the car both good points and bad. Thanks.
@MUFC11timesEPLChamps yep. this turbo s is truly a remarkable achievement for porsche. And look at it this way, in a real world atmosphere (not saying one should drive crazy speeds on the street) the porsche is faster. You can easily drive it everyday whereas the Veyron will be nearly impossible to park too lol
@Sal30 ZR-1's 0-60 time is 3.3 seconds, so the Porsche is more like half a second quicker to 60, but once the Vette hooks up, it will toast the Porsche.
@nashaat Why is it that lifeless pricks like yourself ALWAYS have to start arguments on youtube? I bet if we were face to face you wouldn't have the balls to say something stupid like that to me. I also would bet that if you did, I'd ram my fist through your fucking skull. And YES, of course its faster in the quarter mile, dip shit. But the trap speed on the Vette is higher, meaning that given a little more road, the ZR1 would pass it.
@christiandel93 nope it doesn't actually. 1/4 mile times are faster and trap at least 1 mph more than the vette (Car and driver confirmed it... and they were even surprised) and good luck trying to get a 3.3 sec run out of the ZR-1 lol you'd do it ONCE then the car will try to kill you with tailsnapping oversteer :D
@Sal30 Take into account the price of the veyron, i think ill take a few tenths of a second slower over a few hundreds of thousands of pounds/dollars/euros more.
@Sal30 The ZR1 will do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds with a good driver. Now that it has the Pilot Sport Cups (like porsche) for 2012, it will be quicker, as its new 7:19 'ring time shows. The quickest bone stock ZR1 (on slicks) ran a 10.56 @ 133 mph in the 1/4 mile. Just shows what the car can do when it gets traction like this AWD Porsche. You have to respect the ZR1's performance for the price, but i'd rather have this given the opportunity. Beautiful car.
@Sal30 ok. but the Veyron also has 16 cylinders and 4 turbochargers. The Turbo S has 6 cylinders and 2 turbochargers. The Veyron cost over $1 million. The Turbo S costs about 140,000. I think I'll give up 2 tenths of a second on my 0-60 and save about a million dollars AND get better gas mileage and take the Turbo S.
@Sal30 uhm yeah and a subatomic particle at the hadron collider can reach the speed of light in a matter of seconds. Whats your point!? It's apples to oranges, the turbo s is only 165k, the veyron is anywhere from 1-2 million! The Turbo s is now by far one of, if not the best supercars out on the market today.
@Sal30 Standard veyron is 2.7, SS version is 2.5... A 2011 turbo S like this one with 100 more hp ran 2.37 sec to 60, 4.92 to 100 (faster then any veyron) 10.15 @ 144 mph and 0-160 in 12.8 sec, just 6 tenths of a sec slower then the 2012 Veyron SS 12.24 sec... However, a 800 hp GT-R will beat them both to 150...
that cars interior probably smells like camel piss

sony33flo 1 year ago
That was like 3.5 sec buddy. It might make a perfect 2.9 secs over like 100 runs on the right day.
tayman1975 1 year ago
@tayman1975 I doubt you can count 3.5 seconds accurately on your own..

ZR1 is GM, all GMs are Rubbish!
torxMonster 1 year ago
And race from a roll and the Zr1 will walk. ZR1s regularly trap 130-133 in the QT. This is a 127-130 car. Big difference. No one races their 100K+ cars from a dig. It's all roll on the street so don't race a Zr1 and expect to win. Trap speed, 60-130, 0-186(0-300km/h) and standing mile tells the story about these cars. The Zr1 is faster than the 997.2 PDK turbo in all those tests and the Bugatti is light years ahead of either. 0-60/0-100 are useless tests these days.
355SPIDER 1 year ago
@355SPIDER ye so true, but that zr1 got 117 hp more than this porsche :) .. imagine tuning the porsche to around 650 then compare them -> porsche kills everything
Bmw545m 1 year ago
@355SPIDER Turbo s will walk away from a zr1 in a roll, hell the turbo pdk can match it!
mattyoz0 1 year ago

PORSCHE leads and ya'll follow!

happytobeproud 1 month ago
@kay19833 dude do you know how to read english? did you NOT see my comment about how the ZR-1 does not 'walk' on this Turbo S? Before you get your granny-panties in a bunch, read and you will find out that I said the PORSCHE is a remarkable machine. So shut the hell up.
Grifkylian 1 month ago
@kay19833 and also, one DOES have to wonder if YOU'VE been spanked by too many 'Vettes in your German car since you seem to hate them so much... A porsche is a porsche. With that comes a bigger price tag. I guess you're so narrow-minded that you only like German cars and think they're superior. I personally drive an '99 BMW M3. Do I think it's superior? NO. In today's world, my car is considered just 'average' in terms of straight line performance. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A FASTER CAR THAN YOU.
Grifkylian 1 month ago
The 911 Turbo S is amazingly fast 2.71 0-60(crushes the ZR1 by about a second in 0-60), but let's not get carried away.
The Veyron and Veyron SS are both 2.5 0-60.
Sal30 1 year ago 13
@Sal30 Just goes to show how good the Porche Turbo S is. You're comparing it to a Veyron. A car that costs 10 times more than the Turbo S. Question for Guillaume. How are you finding the Turbo S and is it as quick as you thought it would be? How are the running costs of the Turbo S? Would like to hear your views on the car both good points and bad. Thanks.
MUFC11timesEPLChamps 1 year ago
@MUFC11timesEPLChamps yep. this turbo s is truly a remarkable achievement for porsche. And look at it this way, in a real world atmosphere (not saying one should drive crazy speeds on the street) the porsche is faster. You can easily drive it everyday whereas the Veyron will be nearly impossible to park too lol
Grifkylian 1 month ago
@Sal30
Actually, all legit tests run to date have concluded that the TurboS was the fastest to 0-60 car they ever tested, including the Veyron.
SRT8Vortech 1 year ago
@Sal30 I second that.
Speedcorp 1 year ago
@Sal30 ZR-1's 0-60 time is 3.3 seconds, so the Porsche is more like half a second quicker to 60, but once the Vette hooks up, it will toast the Porsche.
christiandel93 10 months ago
@christiandel93 EAT A DICK faster at quarter mile as well
nashaat 10 months ago
@nashaat Why is it that lifeless pricks like yourself ALWAYS have to start arguments on youtube? I bet if we were face to face you wouldn't have the balls to say something stupid like that to me. I also would bet that if you did, I'd ram my fist through your fucking skull. And YES, of course its faster in the quarter mile, dip shit. But the trap speed on the Vette is higher, meaning that given a little more road, the ZR1 would pass it.
christiandel93 10 months ago
@christiandel93 ahhh another white boy .....Ignored
nashaat 10 months ago
@nashaat
nashaat 10 months ago
@christiandel93 nope it doesn't actually. 1/4 mile times are faster and trap at least 1 mph more than the vette (Car and driver confirmed it... and they were even surprised) and good luck trying to get a 3.3 sec run out of the ZR-1 lol you'd do it ONCE then the car will try to kill you with tailsnapping oversteer :D
Grifkylian 1 month ago
@Sal30 Take into account the price of the veyron, i think ill take a few tenths of a second slower over a few hundreds of thousands of pounds/dollars/euros more.
W00DY084 10 months ago
@Sal30 but the porsche does 0-200 kmh in like 12 seconds and the zr1 does high 9's
rmf09024 9 months ago
@Sal30 although i don't like the zr1, it will beat the turbo around a track, look at the times around the ring
andyb0x 9 months ago
@Sal30 The ZR1 will do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds with a good driver. Now that it has the Pilot Sport Cups (like porsche) for 2012, it will be quicker, as its new 7:19 'ring time shows. The quickest bone stock ZR1 (on slicks) ran a 10.56 @ 133 mph in the 1/4 mile. Just shows what the car can do when it gets traction like this AWD Porsche. You have to respect the ZR1's performance for the price, but i'd rather have this given the opportunity. Beautiful car.
Nick1944 9 months ago
@Sal30 ok. but the Veyron also has 16 cylinders and 4 turbochargers. The Turbo S has 6 cylinders and 2 turbochargers. The Veyron cost over $1 million. The Turbo S costs about 140,000. I think I'll give up 2 tenths of a second on my 0-60 and save about a million dollars AND get better gas mileage and take the Turbo S.
dirtracercole7 8 months ago 3
@Sal30 uhm yeah and a subatomic particle at the hadron collider can reach the speed of light in a matter of seconds. Whats your point!? It's apples to oranges, the turbo s is only 165k, the veyron is anywhere from 1-2 million! The Turbo s is now by far one of, if not the best supercars out on the market today.
Wislastar 5 months ago
@Sal30 Nice but considering how much more they cost I would rather be 0.21 seconds slower in the acceleration.
Th0ra33 5 months ago
@Sal30 Lol was your grandma driving the ZR1 that went 0-60 in 3.7 seconds? hahaha gtfo
bubbyj 5 months ago
@Sal30 Standard veyron is 2.7, SS version is 2.5... A 2011 turbo S like this one with 100 more hp ran 2.37 sec to 60, 4.92 to 100 (faster then any veyron) 10.15 @ 144 mph and 0-160 in 12.8 sec, just 6 tenths of a sec slower then the 2012 Veyron SS 12.24 sec... However, a 800 hp GT-R will beat them both to 150...
