I find it funny that there's a whole genre called "powerviolence", and yet there's already bands that have put out material that was faster before Powerviolence was even a genre. Bands such as Wehrmacht.

@Bassbait well, wehrmacht started around the same time as powerviolence, have u heard of a band called siege from 83?, they wer a big influence on powerviolence. id say it started of as just extreme hardcore with both slow and fast riffs

@MaharlikaAWA My friend used to into the Metalcore/Deathcore garbage until I introduced him into some Thrash Metal bands like Warbringer, D.R.I, Toxic Holocaust, Muncipical Waste, Destruction, Sodom, Possessed, Venom, Celtic Frost, Early Man, etc... and within a month he pretends that emo deathcore metalcore in that nature do not exist. His room used to be filled with White Chapel, Suicide Silence, Job for a gayboy posters on his wall. Now he has alot of Venom, Toxic Holocaust, Slayer pictures.

@DyingBeetus its kind of a mix of grind core which i wud say came from deathmetal and punk mixed together and hardcore but powerviolence songs are too long to be grind core i wud say and are too hardcore to be grindcore too. but yea theres alot of sub genres that u cud say are the same thing but its just a way of distinguishing different music i guess
