  • the voice is sooo off... it matches the songs emotion perfectly! But Jacks voice is da best.

  • I like both versions...the first one convayed more emotion but I really like this one also

  • @GagaMafia1 I like the revised version better too :D

  • I prefer Jack actually. This voice is nothing like his.

  • I don't see why people hate it :/ I'm probably the only one that fell in love with the replay button ^.^

  • omfg am I the only one who actually likes this version

  • i dont mind this

  • Comment removed

  • god these people suck at this song. i DID like this movie but this just ruined it

  • Hey, the All AMerican Rejects, right?

  • this is okay, but could have been better if an adult voice was used. this song is so emo it might cut itself...

  • 'Revisited' Its called this because its different artists interpretation of the song, Korn's version for example is nothing like the original version. This is most likely AAR way of singing it, the idea of this album is not to completely remake the films song list. Its to give another way of singing each song. Other than Marylin Mansons version I cannot think of another one that is exactly alike.

  • I actually like this version. For some weird reason :P

  • i like this version i think they were perfect for this song and i want to buy the CD

  • the song deserves a better musician

  • I must have this CD. I'm guessing there's liek at least 4 covers of This Is Halloween on it.

  • @SmileyKinzz Just Marilyn Manson's version actually

  • 11th grade. Every morning on the bus. This song and about 4 others on the CD is all I listened to in the morning, and I'm sure I scared a few other kids cuz I like singing it.

  • Nasal whine much?

  • Awful. No need to say anymore.

  • Well, Danny Elfman picked them to sing this and obviously felt it was the best that anyone could do. But he only wrote and composed the entire movies score and songs and played Jack's voice...so what does he know? :-/

  • no offense to the people who covered this version, but i could sing a better version. these people are ok, but it doesn't quite match the feeling of the song.

  • this is bad who is this

  • Years later and I still think DeVotchKa should have done this instead :/ especially when I get to 1:13 - it just makes me cringe ugh :(

  • Hate. The lead singer sounds horribly nasally and whiny. Hate hate hate.

  • @valiantvyse you think thats bad listen to what they did to the ooge boogie song *shudders*

  • @GuitarRocker2008 Are you kidding me?! the Oogie Boogie song was pure genius! You listen to those guitars?? Yeah that's called talent. Their playing is amazing and they did it their own way! What, you think you can arrange and play the song better with two acoustic guitars? Go ahead, let me see you do it. A song doesn't need words to be music or beautiful. What they did was an amazing interpretation. And you call yourself "GuitarRocker"? Yeah right, a real guitarist wouldn't say what you did.

  • @missmusicgirl0511 t would happen no i didnt mean that version yes i agree the rodrigo y gabriela version is grat it rocks i meant the tiger army version i suppose i should have been more specific

  • @GuitarRocker2008 oh i see! well then i'm sorry :)

  • awful

  • I actually like this a lot.

It has a certain "human" quality to it

I mean no one could top the original Jack but this feels a bit wearier and downtrodden like how the song suggest Jack is feeling

  • it kinda reminds me of stairway to heaven...

  • I LOVE IT :D

  • urgh!!! oh nooo, i really dont like this >_<

  • Danny's voice did it sexier :3

  • its not as good as i would have hoped...but its ok...i would prefer if my chemical romance or voltaire did it..but thats jut me x3 either way i still love it for this is one of my fave bands...

  • his voice is so annoying >_< i really dont like this version

  • I feel like The All American Reject's had fun doing this song and it's good that way in their own right. You know, in that kind of playful way they did it in, and with Ritter's drone like voice for some parts to add just a little bit of a dark spice on it like it's meant to be.

But all the songs for the Nightmare Revisited album are fine. It was only done in tribute, so I think all the artists had a little bit of their own fun with each song ;P

Of course, the Original's are best still :3

  • danny did it best but this is pretty alright

  • oh gosh :( Tyson Ritter isn't the best at this song , Gerard really would of done better :D but i still <3 All-american rejects

  • I think Voltaire should have done this song.

  • all american rejects?

    X3

  • Actually not a big fan of this band, but this is probably the best vision of this song I could ever think of. :)

  • I like this is so cool!!!!!!! I LOVE NIGHTMARE OF CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is pretty good. Don`t know who it is but he put a lot of character in his performance. Bravo.

  • This is pretty good. Don`t know who it is but he put a lot of character in his performance. Bravo.

  • I love this version.

  • i know everyone is sayin MCR wudve done a better job, but idk i like this version his voice jus goes well with the cover. i likes it :3

  • its so-so but Danny Elfmans' voice cannot be overtaken.

  • Stupid

  • This I what i sing when im sad

  • @Hollow479 How dare you, this is an incredible remake of the song. Don't make your probable dislike of the group affect judgement. Good day!

  • oh my god it sucks compared to the original

  • I didnt really like it. He just did a poor job of capturing the feeling that Jack is giving in the movie through his song. Jack has everything but he is still not happy. that is how he sings this song. This song sounds like a punk song. Poor cover.

  • i love tysons voice <3

  • 206 people have never seen the movie to see how well it fits

  • you cant really feel the feelings that jack felt in the movie, i think the singer should of put some feeling into it instead of doing what he did. MCR would of been so much better!

  • This is wonderful! I don't know about everyone else, but I think this is amazing~!

  • this SUCKED!

  • MCR? Fuck off.

  • they should of had mcr do the town meeting song

  • i dislike it becuz i for some reason thought jack did it better XD

  • @iwillrapechu That's because Danny Elfman did all the singing for Jack Skellington and Danny Elfman is a musical GOD!

  • The All-American Rejects did a really good job with this song. I'm very impressed.

  • If anyone needed help with an American accent, they'd just need to listen to this over and over again. xDD

  • what movie is this from?

  • @MrTomcat1996 its a cover for the nightmare before Christmas (its awesome!!!!!)

  • for people who do not like this cover...listen to the Jacks obsession by sparkelhorse...I guarantee you will love this over that

  • his voice does not FIT AT ALL >D<

but anyways... it's Burton's idea, so I have to like it :P

  • he doesn't quite have the right voice for this O_o jack was more serious and determined where as this just sounds droney and weary

  • @mayleyemayo in my opinion, id say its better, because its what jack is feeling. hes tired of halloween, and wants change. this is especially emphasized in when he says "the pumpkin king" because he wants out.

  • @ShadowWolf0000 some parts of the song are spoken, this guy sings through them, it will never be as good, and it cant even dream of being better, and he says "the pumpkin king" because that's his title... O_o this could have and should have been so much better

  • @mayleyemayo the pumpkin king- listen to his tone. its a bored, sad one, which means that he dislikes that title. i do admit that the voice-overs really did mess up this song, but it is a very good song, for a remake.

  • @mayleyemayo Totally agree!!! This is ... well, terrible!! SORRY, not sure why this is on Youtube. OK... your like... well why did you comment or watching... UM DUH... like many, search or click on a mutual link :D

  • I really just... don't like this. Nothing against the band or the song, but I'm fairly certain someone else could have done it better. Better yet if they just left this one alone. Just my opinion. <:/

  • A better band could have done MUCH better with this song. This song doesn't sound like a lament anymore.

  • Tyson Ritter sounds even more whiny than usual in this song. Actually, I think he's doing it on purpose... but he has totally ruined a beautiful piece of music. Shame on him and whoever gave AAR permission to remake this.

  • With all due respect to the All American Rejects, I don't think this is in their vocal range. It doesn't fit their voices.

  • i laughed so hard when it got to "i'll scare you right out of your pants" ive been watching the movie since i was little.

  • This is the all-American rejects I know I have this on iTunes.

  • @sydsydney12 I think it's the All-American Rejects, but don't hold me to that.

  • Well, I don't absolutely love it, but it's ok to me.

I think it would be 50million times better if My Chemical Romance did it.

I'm surprised they didn't partake in this project, actually. (and a little sad)

  • @RhapsodyMonochrome It would've been fucking awesome of MCR did this.

I wonder what all of the songs from Nightmare Before Christmas would sound like if MCR did them all :)

  • @FunGhoul8990

Words could not describe how awesome it would be.

Also to bigbird2007 I agree, Danny Elfman is the epitome of musical greatness!

  • @RhapsodyMonochrome omg yes, Gerards voice would be PERFECT for this!!

  • @RhapsodyMonochrome lol yea mcr would be awesome but this version is really good!

  • @RhapsodyMonochrome Seriously! You pulled the words right out of my mind.

  • @RhapsodyMonochrome Gerard's voice would have be perfect for this song. I don't like Tyson's with this song |:

  • Comment removed

  • its weird i luv the characters, song and movie but the way he sings its... just...ugh

  • they didn't capture it at all... im sorry...

  • who is this singing? he sounds familuar, and he sounds like he has a stuffy nose in one part

  • Death metal bands should cover all the songs

  • Does this guy has the flue?

  • @valeblack97 flu* and no, its just the way he sings

  • @KayLDay ok sorry it just didnt sound like his normal voice... dont hit me because of a mistake

  • I'm known throughout England and France..........

  • I'm mister unlucky

  • Not bad, but not as the original.

  • There is no emotion behind it...God even I could do a better job singing this song than him!

  • this is horrible no power behind his voice like jack's :)

  • DO NOT LISTEN TO JACK'S OBSESSION BY SPARKLEHORSE YOU WILL REGRET IT.

  • This is worse than the holocaust. This album.

  • Tim Burton didn't actually make this movie though. Someone else did, but it's his story or something so they made it Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas. He didn't direct it though.

  • damn, his voice hurts my ears...i really tried to listen to this all the way :(

danny elfman has an incredible voice....this just completely falls short in showing the emotion and depth

  • That is NOT Jack! Not bad though!

  • I actually love it.

  • This isn't all bad, at times when he's doing a sing/talk mix it works quite well. Unfortunately his singing voice is too nasal and I wish he'd have taken a few parts into a lower register. He didn't kill it, but many of the complaints have a touch of validity.

  • this isnt as good as the original. it sounds like your singing through your nose

  • Do you know what would be fucking great? MORE GUITAR!

  • horrible...

  • wow he just killed this song....

  • I love both versions of this song...both have something great about them that I like...

This version is something different and to me and sounds a bit more catchy XD

The original is just the original...nothing can beat it...well...I suppose this almost tops it...

I just had to listen to it one more time...I've been humming it all day long XD

  • Ok so i have listened o his a few times now. I like the movie one better, but this one is still good. At first i hated it, but the more I hear it the more i like it.

  • I really love this version! I... don't really know what to say more than it's really good xP

  • Man it sounds like they are SO bored singing this. Is he even trying?

  • @linkomega123 Thats what sets the idea of it >_> its what makes it effective XD

  • @DemonicAngel66623 Well if you put it that way I guess it kind of works.

  • This sounds like hammerd dog crap

  • I love how the guy says Kentucky :)

  • @omp593 my words exactly

  • this CD is disney: my style ;)

  • I love this song.......

  • DID YOU KNOW:

The reason Tim Burton got the idea for the Nightmare Before Christmas is that he saw a store taking down there Halloween decorations and putting up Christmas ones. So if he wouldn't of passed that store we wouldn't have one of the best animated films of all time. :D

  • @KayLDay You know it was just poems and art at first, right? He didnt even make the movie until years later. God, hes like the most amazing person on the planet :D

  • @WeAreTheExtinction agreed. I love him so...

  • @KayLDay Inspiration comes in many odd packages.

  • @WarMasterX6 True that

  • @KayLDay indeed i agree.

  • @KayLDay That may be true....but if he hadn't done that, then we wouldn't have a shitty remake of Jack's Lament to listen too

  • @omegaheartless No one is making you listen to this. Why even bother commenting on it if you dont like it? It is a new twist on the song that i love. And you should appreciate it.

  • @KayLDay

really? wow i see that and i dont have that kinda imagineation but yeah its the best EVER! and edward scissor hands ;)

  • @PossesedPossum Yupp. I read it in one of those bathroom reader books. They are chock full of random information.

  • @KayLDay it was fate :)

  • @KayLDay It was Tim Burton, but the director of the movie, Henry Selick.

  • @KayLDay Actually,he wanted a Christmas Speical like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and came up with TNBC.

  • @KayLDay And all of these cool bags. I love my jack skellington bag.

  • yes i do understand that this is supposed to sound different as it is a remake of such an amazing movie but he just not the right voice for this piece of music, his voice just sounds ridiculous with this piece of music he sounds flat and horrid. I love the all american rejects and I have no doubt they're an amazing band but they need to stick to what they're good at.

  • are there any actual videos, or just this pic? i need to get this cd!

  • The song is pretty good, but the singer doesn't really do it for me. He actually sounds like he's under pitch in some segments, which really threw me off. He also was singing very nasally in some sections, which may just be a property of his voice, I don't know. I don't really listen to The All American Rejects. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the song, and everyone needs to STOP bitching. Although, this is the internet, and saying that is just asking to get bitched at.

  • The original is better. If something isn't broken don't fix it. The remake was just taking one of the greatest things of all time and making it mediocre. I like the bands, I have to admit it is an impressive collection of artists but I'm still not pleased with the results. It should have been left alone.

  • hmm my favs are still this is halloween by marilyn manson and kdinap the sandy claws by korn... really like this songs

  • @lacusclyneEXE okay, if you don't like it then you don't have to hate on it or even WATCH it.

  • Hmmm... I would have rather heard a different lead singer. I liked the rest of the music, though! I just don't think the lead singer's style really fits this song. And I know... it's the artists chance to put their own spin on the song, but this lead singer doesn't do so well with the parts that are to be more spoken than sang. He tries to speak them, kind of, and it just doesn't really work. He does have a nice voice, though!!!

  • I like how they put a kind of Latin American music spin on it. Did they change "well placed bow" to "well placed moan"?

  • @my8millennium I thought it was always 'well placed moan' =S

  • I like

  • i like this song, it reminds me of a tango. plus i love AAR :)

  • I really wish they would have picked a better band, or person to do this song.

But overall I think AAR did I nice job, just not the best. /:

  • I actually don't like this version. I tried to, but I really don't.

  • These guys should go kill themselves...Every song sounds the same..not to mention he can't really sing o.0 Half the people on youtube not to mention little 8 year old girls could recapture the feeling of "Jack's Lament" much better than these idiotic kids...

  • 185 People Need to To Be Swept off Their Feet By Jack~!

  • LOVE IT WHY IS THERE EVEN A DISLIKE BUTTON IT KINDA REMINDS OF THE ORGINAL SONG

  • :L this WAS one of my favorite songs in this show, then when All american rejects did it it just killed me inside :L

  • I don't know about you guys, but this guy reminds me of an english Kamiya Hiroshi (Japanese Voice Actor and Singer)

  • @KonataFanGrl it's not that your comment is bad i just have to be the stereotypical French hating american

  • @lolomgswearwords Dude, French people are awesome, im american, but i used to date a french woman, they are amazing ;) wink wink

  • @lolomgswearwords more of a texan girl man myself

  • slaughtered this epic song...pity

  • I guess if someone were to sing a song about whining and generic boredom it would be the rejects ;)

  • The whole point of the song is that Jack is bored and doesn't like being the Pumpkin King anymore. This version is whiny and resentful, which is how Jack supposedly feels in the movie.

  • there is only ONE pumpkin king, and no, youre not jack...

  • I love the Rejects and all, but I just don't think this voice is fit to voice the Pumpkin King. It's not bad, don't get me wrong! It just doesn't sound as good as it could...

Am I the only one who thinks that Voltaire should have done one of these re-makes??

  • Hey. I dig the Rejects.

But there's only one Pumpkin King. They weren't meant for this song. You don't swim against the current, man.

  • @TheEndKing On the contrary, Only dead fish swim with the current. But you know, each to there own and all.

  • @maxdude12: Yeah, dead fish. Halloween Town. Jack's d...

    Nevermind.

  • .... This song should have been left alone haha

  • Not a good voice for Jack and doesn't seem to have any emotion. It was really nice to see them make an effort, but alas I don't think it succseeds

  • I thought this was a great remake! To everyone else: stop listening to the 'Nightmare Revisited' soundtrack, it's that simple.

  • hmm My Opinion(like anyone cares) is it's a good song...but it sounds like they really didn't put any effort in it...like moments where there should b emotion r just the same tone...still...it's not bad

  • Why does the singer sound like he's whining into the mic?

  • Now, I don't mid All-American Rejects, but I love Nightmare Before Christmas more and this sounds a bit like he's whining. It's not mournng for the hole that's been placed like how Danny Elfman sings it, but rather it sounds like the singer was trying too hard to sound like Jack. A bit disappointing, really.

  • What an interesting twist on this song. =) I like his voice actually. The fact that he isn't perfect and lilts and bounces around with such emotional rawrgh is kinda the point of Jack as a character, isn't it?

  • its the lead singer of the all American rejects and im sure you like some songs by them. whats with you guys? nightmare revisited is supposed to be different. it gives all of these singers a chance to put their own spin on these songs so if you don't fucking like it, don't listen to it. you're judgmental bitches who don't have a life, so they just go and criticize people to make yourselves feel better

  • @KILLERCUPCAKE96

yEEAAah! what this guy or gal said!

  • @KILLERCUPCAKE96

    yEEAAah!

  • @KILLERCUPCAKE96 So we're not allowed to click out of interest and have an opinion? I thought that's what the comment section was for. >>
