The portion you see that is out of sync is where Jennifer was thanking Aretha for the "honor" of singing one of her songs. This girl is the real deal; no autotune required. She is the only performer, other than Aretha herself, that received a standing ovation.
First off, all of the performers that did this tributte used auto tune including chaka khan and natalie cole and we all know they can blow. They all did the tribute cause they love Aretha. it wasn't a contest. jennifer Hudson can blow. She wasn't screaming. She was simply using her head voice. She knows what she is doing. If that style of sining wasn't good, she wouldn't have been up there in the first place.
The auto tune kept singing while jen, had stop singing at the end of the song. No one can do it like Aretha. I agree the screaming needs to stop. I agree with James post, Auto tune crap.
Ugh Allison Crowe, REALLY? I mean she did a good job as singers go.. So did Shoshana Bean , but there was no soul.. Someone is always trying to throw a white woman into a realm she has no business being in. These weren't just words that Aretha wrote.. They were a testimony!!! Youth and Talent is a wonderful combination. And yes, Jennifer's stylist earned her pay for this show. But for all ya'll talkin' smack about the Queen. She is still the greatest AND absolutely beautiful in her lush, aquamarine ruffles. I love it!! Go Aretha!!!

Im sorry im fan of great singers and I love Aretha but honestly for anyone to think this actually sounds good has no ear for music cause you would know that this is horribly sang...She is yelling and it has no emotion, just YELLING!! Aretha version of this was "SANG", not YELLED!!! @anthonyleflore Yeah, there's a certain lack of resonance, warmth to her tone, in comparison. And I'd say that of Aretha herself, in comparison to some singers--like early Maxine Brown or Arlene Smith of The Chantels.

I love Jennifer but come on she's nowhere near the talent of Aretha. Jennifer's voice is out of this world.
Aretha Franklin not only has a voice that is out of this world but she has an ear that is out of this world. When Aretha performed this song it was not to be a Ballad. She didn't reach for the big note because it sound good that way but Aretha let is simmer and let the song build up. Aretha sings a song for the emotional context not for the applause.
