darby isnt a bad person or rider for smacking her pony she had trouble going in to it so she needed to drive her pony forward to get her self out so back off she has a lot of guts to jump what she jumps and she did most of thr round with no stirrupsso cut her some slack.
i was talking to darby the other day and she said she didnt have much time to warm up so her pony was being a prat, also she kept trying to refuse the jumps so she had to hit her it doesnt make you a bad rider from smacking your pony when sometimes they actualy need it so back off !!! and xxmorethanmiltonxx is actually darby see as though she has a pony called more than milton.
I think people are being a bit mean about some of these riders and forgetting that they are under 12! I'm sorry but it takes alot of skill to ride big tracks on small ponies when they're as young as 7 I think they all rode amazingly for their ages and as they got older they are going to be fantastic riders once they get more knowledge and experience :)

the fences are around 1 meter 10 inches or 1 meter 15 inches. they all train lower than that usually because if your pony was jumping those big tracks every day his legs would become sore and swollen. I'm sure they've jumped really high though!
The highest that Jess Mendoza has jumped on any of their 128's is 1.40m. But it doesnt matter about the height, its your technique and how you jump it.

Bit shit that..Feel sorry for her!! hoys is a highlight of her life at 12 years old. Yes the pony was on the wrong stride, but she did the best she could do at the time. No, she was right to use her whip. Darby Ward rode amazingly. She actually completed half the course with no stirrups!! If she had not used her whip, the pony may have stopped and they could have both got hurt plus if the pony had stopped, it would have taught it to back off. Next time they get into this situation (if it ever happens) the pony will know to go forwards therefore helping both itself and the rider out.

Bit shit that..Feel sorry for her!! hoys is a highlight of her life at 12 years old. Ponies are just naughty at times, but like other people have sed its neithers fault the pony got the wrong stride, using the whip just encouraged the pony to continue to jump on the wrong stride...gutted! i wish her look in the future.

yeh, and you only need to get there by having 4 double clears in a certain round ie. british novice and, theres no need to wack the pony for her OWN mistake, and if it was too much for the pony, or her, she shouldn't be doing!

This isn't a british novice class, this is a 128cm class, hav u ever been to the qualifying rounds? Do u realise jst how big those fences go? They are smaller at HOYS compared 2 wat they have done 2 get ther. Every1 in that class has already proved it isn't 'too much' for them.
Quite frankly, i thinks ur being a little pathetic even expecting a faultless round

yes she did get her strides wrong but nevertheless she did extremly well to get her pony thro that combenation
its a lot of pressure for 128 riders at HOYS you cant expect them to get everything perfect

Yeh it is :P She fell off :P and her pony galloped away and she had to pick up her stirrup (which came off) and walk to the collecting ring :P

Omg, i wanna hit that girl at 1.28, her name is Darby ward or summink, she just beats her pony shitless coming into the trebble, even though it was her fault the pony got the wrong stride,she shoula fallen off, served her right! And she deseved the stop too!!!!!

Yes the pony was on the wrong stride, but she did the best she could do at the time. Jordan Frost completely got the wrong stride, like awful, but his pony will jump out of anything, obviously, coz he just sat there are the pony did all the wrk. Differece it Pussycat doll was not going to help her out, Darby did the best she could and its not like she isn't going to put everything into it considering how hard its been to get there. Hpw did she 'deserve' that, shes a 12 year old kid for god sake.

Big deal if they are younger or older. Any of these ppl, did they ride at hoys that day? Like i said before the pony is a very very hard ride, i've rode it myself, Darby does a fantastic job. Do you know the pony at all? Its extremely talented but can be difficult alot of the other ponies do the work for the riders if they get into trouble.

Oh my god.. at 1.30 the girl in the red jacket. Christ she should not be allowed on that poor horse, she is one of the people who give junior riders their bad "spoiled brat" reputation. Jessica Mendoza - fab little rider, she is one of many riders who really doesn't deserve the spoiled brat reputation! Shame about the few who do give the bad images.

er actually i dont think so, she did amazingly well, but misjudged the stride and corrected herself well.. u cant judge her on a 20 second bit of clip, she has obviously worked hard to get to that level, and did the rest of the course without stirrups... and stayed on.. could u do that?

Who are you to judge her? Do you even know her or the pony? Darby is not a spoiled brat, she has worked so so hard this year to get to HOYS and quite frankly her pony is not an easy ride, not many kids could ride it, but its very very talented. Just a bad day for them unfortunately.

No, she was right to use her whip. Darby Ward rode amazingly. She actually completed half the course with no stirrups!! If she had not used her whip, the pony may have stopped and they could have both got hurt plus if the pony had stopped, it would have taught it to back off. Next time they get into this situation (if it ever happens) the pony will know to go forwards therefore helping both itself and the rider out.

yeh, we have lauren Brill, tim stockdale, dale someting, Di Lampard, Katy MarriotPayne, and more but Lauren still gets in the papers for even coming 7th in a class anywhere she goes cause she won the HOYS championship. Oh Well, i have a pony thats been there and won it, but i know Jess pretty well, and when we first met her, the first thing mummy said was 'well shes a bit of a brat' i was like HA!
Pippa Allen is a bit of the same bt shes like my best mate so i wont talk about her x

Jess lives near me, and is in the paper every week.. considering i live in the same county as team fredricks, andrew nicholson, Andrew Hoy, Kitty bogies, harry meade AND rodney powell, dont u think the paper should be covering them, instead of jessica mendoza, when actaully, she is lucky enough to be brought the amazing ponies, she doesnt train them or anything!

Hmm she may have a hell of alot of privelages but no-one can take away from her that she's a top class rider, very very talented. (I think somebody is a little jelous) Little unfair to say your glad she fell off, if anything it would of been a fantatic way to end her 128 career. I have seen that girl do some pretty jaw dropping things, she has perfect timing and extreme guts.
And as far as i know she works very hard in training her own ponies, the whole family do, it a big group effort.
