I'm always blown away at how fine a pianist George Gershwin was, and you can count on it that he never played an identical performance. Fred Astaire's voice sounded the same throughout his career, as near as I can tell--not an outstanding voice, but he knew how to use it best. I like Adelle's style, also. Don't you know they had fun doing this?!
@Broadway3 On the newsgroup alt.binaries.sound2.78rpm-era years ago. Transfer of an LP "Lady Be Good", a Monmouth Evergreen record company album, date unknown.
For those, who, like me, have (in my case change that to had) no idea who Ritchie Blackmore is, he co-foundedd Deep Purple mentioned by peatones27. I even listened to Deep Purple way back when. Thanks, Wikipedia.
I first heard this recording on KALW in San Francisco about 25 years ago. What a pleasure to run across it on YT. George really knew ho to make a tune "rollick." Thanks for posting!
Absolutely wonderful, thank you for posting! Haven't heard this version in, god, twenty years? Memory of childhood. Nothing like hearing Gershwin playing his own stuff.

Adele has had a marvellous voice. *____* what a brilliant time they spent together. Poor what happened to her private life though... :'(

I read the attached comment to the video. I wonder if P.G. Wodehouse was just trying to make people laugh.

The Deep Purple song "BURN" is based on a riff borrowed from Georges Gershwin's Fascinating Rhythm.
