If Capital Punishment were to be reintroduced, the major effect it would have is that it would consign young, persistent offenders to death. I think that the majority of todays society has forgotten that people can turn their lives around for the better, and not only the worst if the governments help to put in place systems to support these youngsters. I have no problem with the death penality. I have talked with many people that have comited 1st degree murder of one or more people. Some of these guys have personality flaws that are just stunning. Some have no remorse whatsoever. They are upset they got caught. That is all. I would rather my tax $ go to justice for the victim and their family. Life in prison means there is allways a chance to get out. It should be used cautiously but it is needed unfortunatly.

If Capital Punishment were to be reintroduced, the major effect it would have is that it would consign young, persistent offenders to death. I think that the majority of todays society has forgotten that people can turn their lives around for the better, and not only the worst if the governments help to put in place systems to support these youngsters. If the death penalty is reintroduced then it is likely that such systems wont be deemed necessary as there is a quicker alternative.

Firstly, are you aware it costs 10 times as much to execute criminals due entirely to huge costs of legal proceedings, than to keep them in prison for life? So in fact, prison is cheaper and it's actually part of the reason several states are looking into abolishing it, to save money for tax payers. Money that could be spent on preventing & solving crime.
Second, death is quick, far quicker than 30 years locked in a cell contemplating your actions. Depriving of freedom for life is worse.

the question of whether we should keep the death penalty is moral.
there are different levels of offenders. there are many offenders, that got caught dealing or stealing and minor stuff like that a couple times, and that lands them in prison. we need to work we these guys before they become worse in the prison system. prison seems to promote violence and isn't very rehabilitative when you look at stat.
some criminals really do deserve death. everyone dies, their death should be sooner.

Well, i have to say: moderation, moderation, moderation. If someone commits a crime they shouldn't go scott free, but they still deserve to be treated as humans and not executed.

thanks for the vid, i haven't really made up my mind about this issue coz there are very strong arguments on both sides but i think i do lean more towards this one :) i'm noticing that people arguing against this vid tend to be thinking that you justify murder and abortion but actually nope not the case and i'm glad i know that...peace out

Someone with your attitude would be murdered in jail. Just because they're behind bars doesn't mean that they're not a threat anymore. If you were ever in a jail working as a guard, or a medic, or a chaplain, or you were there as an inmate, you'd find that out very fast.

Capital punishment should be defended by every citizen. It is in no way "murder." It is not barbaric, either. It is the civil authorities acting properly as "God's servants" to execute wrath upon violent criminals who have criminally taken human life. In this way, the violent criminal HIMSELF or herself is deterred from committing the crime again. See Romans 13:1-5, and many other passages. Write your governor to SUPPORT him or her in proper use of the death penalty! Thanks.

That is absurd - civil authorities are civil authorities, NOT "God's servants". Some wouldn't believe in God, and others might believe in a different one. Civil authorities aren't appointed to do God's work - that's what ministers/priests are there trying to do. Civil authorities do what is required of them by law and what their department heads ask them to do. If God is going to judge who deserves life and death, let HIM decide, or don't you have faith in his abilities? Not up to us to play God

What about the innocent people that died? How can you justify that? Forget the bible or any other document for a minute, if someone killed an innocent person or A LOT of innocent people, why should they get to live? An eye for an eye makes perfect sense to me.

First off, in trying to correct my spelling you have displayed your own ignorance, haven't you? Your world-view is a bit insular? Don't know much about the world beyond American borders? In England (the country where the English language began hundreds of years before America), "Civilized" is spelt civilised. In Australia we follow the English spelling, though American spelling is often accepted too.

first off, your spelled civilized incorrectly. I don't have a problem with your opinion, yes in the bible it says thou shalt not kill but according to Christian beliefs God has a plan for everything. Maybe it is for his purpose that those monsters who commited crimes of the nature deeming them worthy of the death penalty get what was coming to them. I'm a Christian, but I think we are too lax on the scum that sit in out prisons now.

the death penalty is wrong. it creates twice as much suffering, for both families. its just wrong, how can the law say murder is wrong then commit it themselves, it makes them as bad as the murderer and puts their morality on a par with that of the killer.

Deuteronomy 13:5-20, 21:18-21, Exodus 22, are just a few examples of death penalty established in the Bible. No, I don't think criminals are deterred from comitting crimes because of the death penalty. But that's not the point. It's a matter of retribution, justice, and social cleansing. These people have committed serious crimes, thus earning a serious punishment.
