I love this guy. He's at the top of his form. I don't know if he knows this, but he owns classical trumpet renditions, he's a natural. I think his jazz and other interpretations are, well, interpretive, too unstructured for me I buy only his classical recordings. But I buy.
@BuRtOink How could circular breathing be the same breath when your constantly breathing in new breaths? You are connecting new air with the old air in your lungs. A breath is the act of breathing in, and you are still breathing in and out while circular breathing.
@trumpetman I saw many musicians mastering circular breathing. The best performance I heard was by Harry Carney. Once he held the same note - easy hear any variations in the brathing - but there were no variations. While he held that one note, Ellinginton played wonderful cords and improvisations, till the final bar before the orchestra came in. Master yoga and you will understand better circular breathing.
@burger414 constant sound yes, but he is taking many breaths. He must take many breaths in order to keep a constant sound without pause. You can't put new air into the horn unless you breathe it in and blow it out.

P.S. I'm an old guy.

@trumpetman Circular breathing is essentially the same breath. You're exhaling while breathing in continuously

@burger414
The recording actually is in 2 parts. They spliced the parts together.
