@evey116 i know i saw that episode!! i laughed my ass of watching that episode! and the part where buffy and spike r chasing each other back and forth in front of principla wood's office is hilarious!!!!! :)
LOL! Excellent, very funny vid. I liked your use of Once More with Feeling clips (Tara's jazz hands!) and the timing on things like the Spike thumbs up.
There's another If U Were Gay interpretation online adopting a Spangel conversation. My first thaught was that it was better, as it fitted the refrain more strictly (straight story told by Spike, if Angel was gay...), but now I admit that this version is funny, too...
It is not a kid's musical in the slightest. I actually went to see it, and if you bought tickets, they sent you all these disclaimers letting you know that it was very...racy. They even had the warnings all over the theatre. Even then, there were parents with young kids there. Apparently, hooked on phonics did NOT work for them.
True, but they're still giving eachother goo-goo eyes while they do it, so I think it counts... plus Joss said that that seen was there to "show what a couple those 2 are." XD
Although cptgigi may be correct about deciding Willow was to become gay when Oz left, I think Joss had been planning it for a while as there was at least one big hint. - Remember gay vampire Willow when Oz and Willow were still together and things between them were good? Angel hinted that you become how your vampire self was.
lol, yeah. Joss actually comments on that saying something along the lines of "Hey, wow, look how far ahead we think! We're GENIUSES!" or something...I love how Angel figured out Willow was gay before even the writers were completely sure. *hugs Buffy DVDs* Sometimes I am completely overwhelmed by how much I lurrrrve this show.
And also, ditto. This is a great video, which I forgot to mention in all my ranting. *sheepish grin*
I totally agree with cptgigi. Also, there were many hints about Andrew liking men but because of how funny Andrew was, it wasn't serious in the respect of how Larry's 'coming out' was.
Xander: "Willow, gay me up!"
Lol. It would have been so different and slightly weird if Xander had become gay.
Season four episode 'Goodbye Iowa', right at the beginning. This is after Maggie Walsh tried to have Buffy killed and Riley comes over wanting to know what happened. Then Spike's all, "Oh, by the way, if you're trying to kill her...*thumbs up!*"
the annoying thing about the show is they never portrayed a guy-guy relationship that wasn't a big joke (sorry larry). more people are fond of lesbians than gays so that would have really helped.
I'm sorry, I'm going to have to disagree and defend my Joss-man. Joss Whedon only knew that he wanted a gay character and did not specifically decide on lesbian, as he hadn't decided which of Xander or Willow would be gay. The decision was made when Seth Green (Oz) left the show, leaving Willow single.
Also, I don't think that Larry was portrayed as a joke - Xander was. Larry was always portrayed seriously, it was how uncomfortable Xander was that was the joke. Also, at the time Willow and Tara came out, people weren't overly fond of lesbians either. Joss never made their relationship about two hot girls kissing for ratings (in fact, he and Amber Benson got lots of hate mail), just two people falling in love, and that's what I love most about their relationship. Sorry for my rambly rant...
I totally agree and love Joss for this. It was always about two people falling in love, no matter if they were gay or not, and not for ratings. I loved that it was about their hearts.
@cptgigi That makes sense. What I hate is that the second she and Tara get together, she's gay. Uh...what about Oz and Xander? And that demon that you thought was a dude, Malcolm? They didn't show Willow having a big discovery and deciding she's gay. I mean, she LOVED Oz, Xander and Tara. Why gay? Why not bi? Or at least have her have a big self-discovery about being gay. Having one gay relationship does not necessarily make you gay.
@chesiregirl That is definitely true. The potential fluidity of sexuality is always very complicated, so it's not impossible for Willow to have loved Oz and Xander but still be gay. That said, bisexuality is often misrepresented or dismissed as "sexual confusion" in popular media, so it would have been nice to be able to cite Willow as a healthier portrayal.
HAHAHA that was probably the best comment i've had on a video. I took nothing before making this, this gives you a little insight into my personality. Thanks for the comment!
Yay! So who remembers the Angel episode where we learn that Spike and Angel were "intimate" back in the day. The episode was "Power Play," season 5. I love these shows.
