The images are certainly contemporary, but they are meant to inspire those who don't even have a thought or care what color someone looks.
Jesus is Love, not a tint, and Jesus is certainly not offense or contempt as you seem to be bringing to me.
Look for the bright side brother. And find your good cheer in the face of things that bother you. That will bring you peace of mind.
