@PX917 Its a custom built guitar. I know relatively little about where the parts came from but from what I've gathered its an Ibanez Super Strat style body (alder i believe) and a Jackson style birdseye maple neck. The guitar has a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom pickup and an active/passive switch, and the bridge is a Kahler tremolo.
@PX917 I'm totally on board with you about the Floyds, but they're more expensive and this guitar came loaded with a Kahler. It keeps tuning fairly well, but not as well as the Floyd I have on my ESP. And yeah you can make your own custom pickups, but the Custom Custom is an actual pickup made by Seymour Duncan. You can find them on musiciansfriend and other music retailers. I really dig them because they're mellow enough for clean channels, but obviously they can do distortion as well.
@PX917 I actually got really lucky and bought it on Ebay for around $200. It wasn't put together very well and so I've had to put a lot of work into it, but it was well worth it. The total cost would probably run around $800 (the neck being the most expensive. And for pickups 81/85 is the classic combination for EMGs, but if I ever got new pickups I'd look at the Seymour Duncan Blackouts.
@archimedesvi O cool I was hoping it came out cheap but it's just an average price I am planning to get my first Floyd guitar for $400 it's Jackson DX10D and install the emg 81/85X but with a pssive switch or maybe just sme Seymour duncans like your or the JB and Jazzthen I'm planning to get the peavey 6505+ 112
I'm savin' up to get one of these amps. I'll be able to afford it after I sell a little bit of gear. I already have $300 saved up =). Anyways, how are the cleans? I like a nice warm clean sound. I'm have a depressive black metal solo-project called Gurut (please check it out and comment if you have time) and I use a lot of cleans. The distortion sounds great though!
@DeathMetalAngel123 - The cleans aren't too bad, especially with the right guitar. I feel like they're a lot better than many people make them out to be. In fact, I am going to be uploading a video of my cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" pretty soon, and that is going to have a lot less distortion on it (the solo). So maybe you'll be able to get a better idea, but you should also definitely go try the amp out for yourself! Thanks for watching!
@666jony666 - I imagine that you would be able to do just about any heavy metal tone with the Peavey 6505, especially old school tones like Machinehead. When I recorded this song I think I have the mids slightly scooped, and the highs slightly toned down as well due to the guitar I am using (something like Bass-8, Mid-4, High 6). If you fiddle with the controls enough you can coax a wide variety of metal tones out of this amp.
great covering but the only thing that sounds a bit odd is that u used the lower octave notes rather than the higher ones... and i think u understand what i am talking about .. cause there is no 2nd guitar volume.. anyways great cover
Sure, I'm playing the second part of the harmony that moves a bit more slowly up the fretboard. When I played it in my old band the other guitarist handled the higher part during the first verse. Thanks for watching!
I think its great for home practicing, especially on a budget. I think I was able to get the tone in this video with the Post (volume) turned halfway between 1 and 2. Its great for any type of metal, and if you're looking for a tube-driven combo amp then I'd highly recommend it.
Opeth was ok back then but i really prefer bands like The Grief Disease nowdays :)

Nice playing bud. I'm gonna have to dabble more into Opeth since I ordered his signature guitar and all I guess.
