Highly sophisticated volumetric displays are being rapidly developed and some are nearing completion. Sony's RayModeler will be left in the dust.
I love how they say it's the first machine capable of high-definition 3D images and head tracking. It's painfully obvious that they're trying to ignore the fact that Nintendo kicked their butt at E3 this year with the 3DS, or just forget about the 3DS all together.

8th, I agree with you that Sony DOES make some high end stuff like blu-ray and the UMD, but Nintendo DID make high end things, like the Wii when it first came out. The Wii was the first system to give you wireless, point sensing controlls. If that's not high end, I don't know what is. Of course it isn't all that great anymore, but the 3DS IS high end. It uses a graphics processor that rivals that of PS3 and 360, and it'll be the first gaming system to be in 3D without glasses.

@poolehart Sony didn't invent this technology. All they did was improve it slightly, and not enough to make it look very good at all. With that godawful resolution, It looks like a 3d version of a monitor from about 1992. And yeah, windows 7 is quite good, I dunno what you're bitching about.

While this is interesting, they didn't exactly pull an Apple on this one, taking an existing technology and making it profitable or economically viable.
@Mistraker new tech takes a while to become marketable. look at computers: it took them a while to even get displays, and even longer for them to become a normal home appliance.
also, since when has apple created progress? Their products are supreme examples of form over function (all in one PCs are generally a stupid idea, and you only have to look at the iPhone 4 to see that apple is happy to put style ahead of substance), and I'm not going to pay $600 extra for a pretty case and a mediocre BSD derivative.
Granted, they aren't as guilty of ripping off other companies as microsoft, but they still aren't as groundbreaking as may people think.

4th, personal attacks don't make you look cool or help with your arguement at all. They make you look stupid and make you don't get anywhere with them. 5th, I have a Wii, PS3, AND 360. I love playing Gears of War, Metal Gear Solid, CoD: WW, and BF: BC 2. Don't just assume I enjoy little kiddie games. Sure, I enjoy Mario games, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy other things. 6th, I'm not poor. I may be 14, but I have over $300 which is more than enough for me for at least 6 months.

8th, I agree with you that Sony DOES make some high end stuff like blu-ray and the UMD, but Nintendo DID make high end things, like the Wii when it first came out. The Wii was the first system to give you wireless, point sensing controlls. If that's not high end, I don't know what is. Of course it isn't all that great anymore, but the 3DS IS high end. It uses a graphics processor that rivals that of PS3 and 360, and it'll be the first gaming system to be in 3D without glasses.

@poolehart Sony didn't invent this technology. All they did was improve it slightly, and not enough to make it look very good at all. With that godawful resolution, It looks like a 3d version of a monitor from about 1992. And yeah, windows 7 is quite good, I dunno what you're bitching about.

While this is interesting, they didn't exactly pull an Apple on this one, taking an existing technology and making it profitable or economically viable.

Their products are supreme examples of form over function (all in one PCs are generally a stupid idea, and you only have to look at the iPhone 4 to see that apple is happy to put style ahead of substance), and I'm not going to pay $600 extra for a pretty case and a mediocre BSD derivative.
Granted, they aren't as guilty of ripping off other companies as microsoft, but they still aren't as groundbreaking as may people think.

this is cool, but unless I want to use it for communication (like a video phone or a 3d chat) it's practical purposes are limited, I can't imagine wanting to actually watch anything (like tv or a movie) with this. gaming would be fun though.
