you sir are a moron, every critic in the world including millions of ordinary people all agree it was the ONLY decent action blockbuster of the summer of 2009
Personlly, if it wasn't for the clearly expensive CGI, I would have thought that it was a made for TV movie made to start off a new Star Trek show. By all means a good TV movie, better than the Disney Channel stuff, but a TV movie all the same.
Hey TMPC i did suffer from OCFD i had to see all the other star trek movies. but i havin't seen the new star trek yet but i want to. also i found star trek to be better then star wars a little bit lol. the reason why i say that is bc i started out as a star wars fan. now i'm both a star wars and star trek. but i like star trek a bit more then star wars.
The reason that Star Wars is less nerdy than Star Trek is that Star Trek attempts to explain its technology, where as in Star Wars, it's just assumed, or essentially explained as magic.
I've never seen any of the past films, and deemed the series as "Boring". I went to see it last night with dad, a big Star Trek fan... and I loved the hell out of it. THIS is the film to kick of the summer, and THIS is how you treat the original source (Dragonball evolution can just rot in hell).
i was really impressed with the new star trek film. i didn`t think it would be that good. i would love to see another one and just have to say jj did a f`in awesome job. it`s not the best movie of all time, but it`s totally worth watchin and spending your money on.
I hear you. I was thinking 60s if you watched it when it was first on, 40s & 50s if you were into it in the 70s when it got popular and 80s when the movies came out. For the rest of us it's DVD rentals and love of the later Star Trek generations.
he's not The Movie Critic, he's The Movie PREVIEW Critic, he only reviews previews, although he did a movie review for watchmen a while ago, but I think that was a one time thing.
I could never get into the star wars vs. star trek. they were both good in different ways. and Kirk as a disobedient little shit is actually pretty accurate since in the old show he pretty disobeyed the prime directive all the time.
nice. not only was it a journey on a ship, it was a journey through their own humanity. Kirk always met alians that had gone through the same shit we did as humans. and were going through the same war and paranoia that the audiences of the 1960s were.
shit critic you got it right good work, and yes it is a sequel if you say it's not then you haven't seen the movie or read the comics that tell all the back story on nero, and captain data, yes ten years from the events of nemesis b4 turned into data, and picard became envasitor of volcan, and spock is the envasitor of romulas.
hey movie preview critic, its not called 11 because its a prequel, damn its kindof dumb when you say that, star wars prequels where titled I, II, and III because the ones before it where titled IV, V, and VI. i mean really your always complaining about the title of the movie, now i can understand live free or die hard, and rambo, but for a prequel it doesnt make since to call it a number higher than the other future films, might as well call it star trek 0.
you describe what star trek is all about very well in this preview review, for years i've not really understood why people would hate that and have anything against it.
unfortuately i felt kirk in this film wasn't as human as he has been in the past because he was just too cocky in this movie and it just really annoyed me. hopefully in the sequel they'l make him more human and we can have scenes with this kirk like the scenes with kirk and mccoy in "balance of terror" or like the one with his son after spock's funeral in "wrath of khan".
I don't think the thematics of this film were quite as strong as they've been in the past, but the film definitely captures many of the feelings and ideas present in the past. Primarily the unique friendship between the characters which itself seems to be the real focus of the film. This film certainly has more characterization than one would normally expect in a summer blockbuster. Of course the film isn't perfect, what film is? But it's impressive nonetheless.
