  • I am pleased to see these symbols here. They are NOT to summon up demons but you do have to be very careful with them.

  • As you have not been initiated to Reiki Masters, you will be unable to use the Dai Koo Myo symbol. It has great power, you are right

  • but i feel this symbols got power...why?

  • @Jackytang7999

You can feel its power becouse it is powerful symbol and you are intuitive person, but if you can feel it does not mean you can use it. I had a same feeling with Power symbol, when I first saw it in a book - I could feel its power but I could not use it (I was not initiated). Now I am a Reiki Master. I think if you can feel it you might want to meditate - look at the symbol siently. May be the symbol is calling for you.....?

  • if my reiki level just level 2 ~can i use this Symbols?

  • @Jackytang7999 You cannot use Dai Koo Myo on level 2 as you have not been initiated for it. You will have to attend a Reiki Master's course before you can use this symbol

  • Crown baldev satwant bhambra say every body learn reiki the best treatment for you and your family

  • nice

  • Healing works and is great. I do reiki and light axis healing.

  • This was very helpful thank you for your input.ARTURO MONTENORA

  • The word Reiki is often translated as "Universal Life Force" or "Universal Energy". I once had a Japanese person translate it as "Sharp Spirit"..

  • what means the word reiki?

  • @jin54363 Rei Ki means Univeral Energy, which some interpret as Universal Life-Force ... or universally ambient electro-magnetic field, if one wants to get technical. It amounts to the same thing ... just as what we today call the "human electro-magnetic field" is what was traditionally refered to as one's "aura" -- different words, same thing. With the development of the ultra-sensitive SQUID Magnetometer science can now emprically document what ReiKi masters have been doing for millenina.

  • The head is exactly like the stars in the tombs of the pharaohs in Egypt, also it was a hyerogliph for night with the moon over it... do you have anything to add to this. Thanks

  • @guruartist Yes ... interesting "coincidence", isn't it?! :)

It's also one of the hieroglyphs for 'power', symbolising divinity/divine power, especially the feminine half of all things (think of Isis). Equally interesting, when one considers Isis' healing of Osiris.

It's the ancient pentacle - a symbol of power/divinity, as generally represented by Astarte/Venus, the world over in varying forms. Essentially the power, or energy, of love (love in every sense) & life ... or Rei Ki.

  • energy is life..in september i am going to attend level 2. Can`t wait:> God bless you

  • If Reiki practitioners need help with symbol hopefully this short video will help them. If a non Reiki practitioner looks at this video, it may get them interested in learning Reiki and the world will be a better place for it. If they are not interested, then no harm done. Patrick

  • @paddy209 very well put. i know that to most its just a youtube comment , but i unlike many, do recognize how non invasive , inviting and suggestive but not underhanded your comment is. i wish everybody proposed ideas in such a way. also i agree with you , although im a skeptic at heart of almost everything that does not include conclusive scientific evidence i do believe that if people practiced , used and understood such things as reiki the world would be a better place.

  • @luderudecrude Actually, ReiKi does have "conclusive scientific evidence" to support it -- verifiable, re-testable evidence. A ReiKi masters hands generate healing frequencies, in the ELF range, that interact with the human bio-electric & bio-magnetic fields, & in clinical tests have been documented & proven to effect tissue healing & repair, even down to the single cell-organelle & DNA-nucleotide level. You might like to research the work of Dr James Oschman PhD & see for yourself.

    Bless.

  • @Loribyn thank you and i will be sure to check that out. i hope my comment didnt come off as abrasive , its just that i like ideas such as reiki and i want a little proof because i think it could be a real benefit for people to be able to bring a sense of well being to others through such things as reiki and other forms of energy.

  • Hi paddy, I think its great that you are sharing on youtube but... My Reiki Mater tought me that the symbols are sacred and should not be shared with the public... How do you think about that? Love and light from Thailand

  • Thank you. I am Reiki 2 and used this symbol for self healing...even though I am not supposed to. I will admit after saying it three times I could feel something happen in my energy.

  • So, suppose I'm just looking to expand my worldly knowledge, what would be the sort of recommended reading on Reiki, chakras, and or eastern philosophy in general?

  • Reiki is lie. Bullshit !

  • Strongly Agree!

  • I have been doing reiki for about 3 years and Tai Chi for about 12 years. And one thing that really amazes me about reiki is makes you examine the nature of your own beliefs. If there is nothing to reiki and it is simply beief thats fine I guess it about belief. But like any belief system if it is put to the test and a result is demanded it does not work.

  • there is a woman offering a course stating you can be a reiki master in 48 hours. Is it that easy to learn?

  • That would be the equivalent of giving you a chopping board, knife, saucepan and spatula with a 48 hour crash course on cooking and at the end, a piece of paper saying that you're a qualified Chef. Basically, no not really. The principles of Reiki, the positions, and the attunements can be squeezed into 48 hours easily sure, but what really makes a master is their expertise, their experience, their inner spiritual growth, and their accumulated knowledge which becomes invaluable as a healer.

  • I love your reply bickdaddy - I totally agree with you 100%. I have just completed my Reiki I, after 3 hours, once a week for 7 months of working with my teacher and now feel I am on the path to becoming a true Reiki practicioner - as I am aware, have practiced, and experience the flow of energy. A friend of mine was attuned to Master level in a weekend and knows very little about reiki, doesn't practice it and does not experience the energy flow. Your reply sums it up succinctly. Thank you

  • Thanks Lotusblossom, it's always good to know that there are people out there who are truly embracing reiki for it's potential to heal, not for the right to boast mastery. I've been practicing Reiki for over 2 years now, and I'm currently studying for my 2nd level. To practice the 2nd level is not only about being a better healer, it's also about undertaking a greater commitment to healing yourself as well as others.

  • rofl is funny how things are always been changed and people are always debating about the symbols been original or not, bottom line is make it simple and visualize white light coming from your body into the person you want to heal, simple as that

  • too right! I think Reiki is a format for people to use and chakra work is important but I don't see someone else's symbolism is important in attuning yourself to spiritual energy!

  • Indeed it is the intent to heal that is important. You can draw symbols all you like, but if you lack the intent to heal, they will be powerless and useless. The symbols hold power only in as far as the user can use them to focus that intent. If you're a visual person, visualizing light to heal could work better for you than drawing symbols, others however may feel the need to draw symbols as a focus and expression of their intent to heal.

  • @unknownalien55 whats even funnier is that the Japanese characters mean squat as to begin with, it Reiki was very much taken from Tibetan texts. and so even the Japanese symbolism or words etc were just a translation to be used as a focus. The words were more so a mnemonic tool to memorize the teachings, trigger the correct focus of energy but in the end its a tool not an interpretation lol yes things have changed and its funny watching:)

  • @unknownalien55 not really white light bleaches out your chakras and all these wrong symbols that you get aligned to ruin your auric field.. it is dangerous to be wrong and fooled by new age con men.

  • Any native Japanese speaker will tell you the 2nd character is pronounced "kou" not "koo". And I have seen a more traditional kanji for "myo" or "light". There are so many versions of these symbols floating about its ridiculous. Bottomline, if you or the recipient can feel the energy, that's all that matters.

  • Takata supposedly changed the Symbols to make them easier for Western people to draw. The original Dai Koo Mio Kanji is no longer used by competent Masters

  • Actually in Japan they do not use the Reiki Master symbol, Takata found it on the reverse side of Usui's scrolls in shimpenden and she miss interpreted it as a Reiki symbol, however when the symbol was looked into it was found its influence came from the temple at Karama and translated means "Love light and power"

  • @paddy209 so what are the better symbols used be reiki masters ..

  • I have no Reiki 1 symbol on the method I teach. Symbols are introducted on Level 2 only.

  • There is no symbol's on the traditional reiki taught from Takata. I was taught by my mother, who was taught by one of the original 6 - I agree completely that traditional Reiki has symbols once you reach level 2 only.

  • does the reiki 1 symbol represent the 7 chakras as it seems to have 7 points in the alignment

  • by using the reiki symbols was more effective then just laying the hands on the clients, after reading that you have to visualise the symbols or draw with your lots ,when i started was my wife in the morning that she was sleeping and i applied by visualising the symbols and enbeded on her arm and left my arm resting for few minitues and i wanted to know what is going to happen and later after ten minutes she told me to remove my hand from her body ,beause it was .

  • I did my first degree and completed second degree in year 2000, and i was giving reiki treatments to my friends and relatives ,and i did not have much understanding the concept of it ,beuause i did not read much in details about reiki, but recently i realised that after using the symbols of reiki ,which was more effective ,beause in the class it was given more details of this information, even though i was attuned three symbols ,but after reading books i came to realised that by using the symbols

  • Personally, I think Reiki is a great system, but I understand the tradition has been skewed a bit by various interpretations over the years. For instance, the term "Reiki" probably wasn't even used by Mikao Usui, and thus the "tradition" may not have been the same now as it had been when founded. It may be a benefit to all practitioners to be aware of this--particularly Reiki masters/teachers--so that we can understand the system we use to heal. At the very least, it entitles respect to Usui.

  • If you read my comments from five months ago and perhaps do a little bit of research, you may arrive at the same conclusion that the symbol is not necessarily a symbol--just Asian handwriting. For instance, Dai is written and spoken the same way as in the symbol in both Japanese and Chinese. Koo is written the same between both and spoken similarly. You can find these often by just looking inside an Asian newspaper.

  • I too learned that the symbols are sacred (though not necessarily secret), and I would not necessarily reveal them to anyone. In recent years, however, science is really taking an interest into Reiki (whether to debunk it or prove it), and I think practitioners should really look deeper into the tradition to examine why Reiki may or may not work, or why there are symbols in the first place.

  • I began my Reiki in 1980 and also learned that the symbols were sacred and to be kept secret, however, along my path I have come to believe that there can be greater good by giving any seeker ther gift of these symbols to alow anyone witht he desire to "heal" our terribly disrupted humanity is a good thing.

  • The third character, myo, can also mean bright. So another translation might be "great light bright."

  • Just a thought when I first saw this symbol during my master training. Having an asianic background, I recognized immediately that it's really not a symbol in itself. It is like a word made up of three kanji characters. The top character that looks like a man means "big" or "great." The six strokes in the middle means "light." The third I not completely sure how to translate, but some adaptations of the symbol points to the start of a noun. This symbol invokes "the great light."
