prophet mohammed pbuh had several wives etc sons and daughters. they r ahl bayt. most the sahabas were from the prophet's tribe. Abu bakr- omar and ali and prophet mohammed are related to each other cuz they r from quraysh. but i dont understand the prophet didnt have any sons, so there is no desendents. WOW imagine the prophet's sons lived.Someone please clarify this concept for me. Cuz i dont think Allah sent islam and quran to base life in loving a family.

The Quran repeatadly calls Isa, Isabna Maryam(Jesus the son of Maryam)Allah (swt) could have used Isa ruhullah but didn't. This is clear evidence that the descendants can come from the mothers side. Brother i think u have misunderstood this dua. This prayer isnt asking the Ahlul-Bayt (the family of the Prophet (SAW)) to forgive us. it is asking them to advocate on behalf of us to Allah (SWT). Just like muslims ask their friends to remember them in their prayers, or they ask their sheikh to pray for them, its the same thing. however the difference is that noone person is greater in purity and is more loved than the Prophet (SAW) and his family (AS)
