The overhead cost to build this bridge is an insult and Toledo which was suffering from an economic recession at the time didn't even need a $200+ million dollar bridge. One of the more often overlooked controversies of this bridge is it tends to accumulate a possibly dangerous amount of ice on the rails sometimes. I rememember last winter driving on the bridge and this relatively big chunk of ice crashed in the far left lane. I was in the right lane thank god....
Not a fan of the Toledo Skyway except on 4th of July. The colors are out of whack most of the time. When you get to the top at night, the view of the LEDs is atrocious. When you are looking at the bridge from Summit street during the day it looks like the rails that hold the bridge together don't even match up at the bottom. It's not very pleasing to look at during the day.
Nice video! I live in Toledo, and I hate it, but the video was rad. A better view of downtown would have been had coming up I-75 all the way through town. Toledo's downtown does have a beautiful skyline.

Pure boredom searching my city on youtube made me stumble upon this video. Looks like it was pretty windy... Not knocking you at all but are you doing this for any particular reason/cause, or just recording your travels? How many miles have you recorded. Last question, anybody else "break" a couple of times? 0:37 Metallica, Whiskey in a Jar would be a fitting song lol. . . Be safe!

Ohio has some awesome roads. You talk about the turnpike(80 90) thats awesome,OH 250 is a good road,and i 77 is also tremendous.Michigan has some of the most shitty roads ever...
ah, i know this strecth of road well, its the main artery going south and east leaving detroit. the welcome to michigan sign always cracks me up, everyone elses sits over the freeway while ours sits of the side of the road.
Its nice to see the Toledo fwy project done, when i was there in 04 the part at 2:15 didn't even exist. It was nothin but orange barrels and pissed of people late for work.

Good job on the video from a native of Toledo! I live 1/4 mile from the VGCS on Summit St (in fact, you can see my place from the bridge)! I got a chance to walk the bridge the day before it opened and it was absolutely breathtaking. ODOT did a great job and I'm glad to see you got a chance to enjoy it as well.

Countinue on I-75, break off on I-275, then go west on I 94, get off on Michigan ave and thats how you get to my house! :)
I counldent tell ya how many times Ive been this route! its quicker to go on US 23 to get to ann arbor.
