first the patient raises their leg and flexes the knee ( 90 degree flexion of knee- ).. then when the physician make the knee in full extension, if patient feel headache and a involuntary flexion of the other leg happen.. then the test is positive.
1. The patient raises their leg (knee in full extension) actively by flexing the hip until pain is felt. (the entire test is actively done by the patient).
2. The patient then flexes the knee and if the pain disappears, then it is considered a positive test (sign for meningeal irritation, nerve root involvement, or dural irritation).
