Sure it has. It's been combat proven, at least for ground attack. About air to air attack, it has been as proven as any moderne aircraft (there's not been any air engagement since a very long time). But in last simulated combat (with factice weaponry), it proved to be far superior to Eurofighter, and in dogfight, not far behind the F-22, despite it has no thrust vectoring.

C'est un Breguet Br.1050 Alizé, un avion de lutte anti-sous-marine. Il a été mis en service au début des années 1960 et construit à 89 exemplaires (dont 12 exportés en Inde) utilisés jusqu'en septembre 2000.

Je crois qu'il parlait plutôt du F8 crusader qui apparaît juste après l'alizé. C'est un chasseur embarqué américain qui date des années 50 et qui assura la défense aérienne des porte-avions français jusqu'au remplacement par le Rafale.

Super Etendard is a bomber/strike plane, so has never shot anything else down.

But Iraq lost 3 Super Etendards shot down by Iranian Phantoms in the 1980s.

the crusader is no longer in service since 1998

Now the Rafale replaces the crusader for the air / air and replace the soon atandard for the grood attack, the rafale is the best navy plane in the world for this time and evently a very best plan for the air force ! ;)

I am curious. Does anyone know how the Super Etendard Modernise is in air to air combat? I know the Rafale is the new master of the sky for the French Navy, but I have never heard how the Etendard can be. I know its attack and recon abilities are still good. But Air to air you never hear about.

Super Etendard are planes for French National Navy. Built since the 70s, they were used by France in Lebanon (1980), Kosovo (1999) and Afghanistan (since 2001). They were used by Argentina (Falklands War) and by Iraq in 80s against Iran. They are used for air-ground attack or against an ennemy Navy (exocet rockets) but I don't think they often are used for air-air fights. It's more the job for Rafale.

No I checked, he is definitely Fighter-bombers (attack against Navy and attack to ground). He has two machine-gun, rockets Magic 2, AM-39 Exocet, Nuclear rocket ASMP (it could have ^^), rocket AS-30L. I think he should have needed Crusader F8(FN) and Dassault Rafale. Each has its job.

for all i know,they have poor air to air ca pacities,they do manoeuver a little but their radar is ground optimized,it's shape was desiged with no regard for furtivity,and it's engine is thrustworthy yet weak,9000lbs or so.

the rafale would also benefit greatly from a tougher engine,but given french actual budgets...
