Jazz isnt generally about being relaxed. Its meant to feel good as well as get their talents shown as a progressive musician.

Kenny G is a good songwriter but the reason jazz (or classical) musicians dont like him is because he is all about playing with feel, but he barely adventures from easy and unimpressive scales. This is usually referred to as "wanking".
