Is this a home made or a commercial hot wire. Since my budget is so thin, I think I could make one. I have several transformers. Do you know how many watts and what voltage this is?
I should be able to make a rheostat and I have up to a 24V DC transformer at up to 200 watts. I was thinking old guitar strings would work.
I want to be able to put my table up against the wall in my garage so it wont take up any room. How can I make sure my mountains made of crumpled up paper and plaster cloth stays secure in place?
Folks building a 4 by 4 village are not likely to buy a hot wire appliance. The alternative of a hack saw blade and foam smoothing tools should have been discussed.

Good points! Wonder why prior comment refers to a Hot Wire properly returned to its holder? That is one fun tool giving great results.

what do you call that carving tool you're using? Not the hot wire, the red tool to carve the foam?
