This awards special is the last thing I remember seeing on MTV that was actually great. Like an earlier commenter, I stopped watching altogether very closely around this time. A tragedy when you consider what was once a channel that could on any given day, make me feel pumped to be alive should turn into such a bastion of soul-killing mediocrity and stupidity.
