It is one aspect, yes. YouTube's also quite handy for sharing audio/video files which are too big to email, the only trouble being that when you expect the audience to be no more than single figures and you sign in to find you're attracting hits from Oregon to Japan, it might mean hastily swapping out your original "recorded in the kitchen" soundtrack.
"I've, erm, swapped the audio until I figure out where all these unanticipated views are coming from."
Is that not the point of youtube???
